He decided to stay and use the field as a base from which to take up passengers. Goldie was among them. Monday he invited her to fly to Ramsey, Ill. He told her mother they would be back in a few hours. Late Monday night he telephoned Mrs.

Gehrken from Marion, told her not to worry and said he and the girl would return the next day. They didn't, and her family notified Sheriff H. E. Vogt. After an investigation he said he didn't know whether the flight was a romantic one or whether the girl was being held against her will.

She and Pelch weren't heard from or seen again until late yesterday when the plane zoomed down over the Gehrken farm. It dropped so low Mrs. Gehrken could identify her daughter and Pelch in the cockpit, It circled over the house, then headed east.
