Hours will be from 2 to 5 and from 7 to 9 o'clock.

Mr. McGowan and Maude Bryant were married at the home of her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Bruce Bryant, where the bride has lived all her life and still resides, Dec. 29, 1896.

The Rev. Frank G. Wilcox officiated. Mr. and Mrs.

McGowan have 3 sons, Wayne, Clarence and Earl, who with their families, have residences on the old homestead. Miss Leora Mary Lundberg, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Albert Lundberg, Forest City, became the bride of Henry Arthur Smith, son of Mr. and Mrs.

Ralph J. Smith of Woden, at the home of the bride's parents December 22. The Rev. Mr. Knoploh officiated at the double ring ceremony.

Preceding the ceremony Mrs. Lennea Borg played nuptial music, while Milo Lundberg, brother of the bride, lighted the candles. Mrs. Roy Olson, accompanied by Mrs. Borg sang.

The bride, who was given in marriage by her father, had her sister, Myrth Lundberg, as maid of honor. Miss Charlotte Shore of Indianola was her bridesmaid. Walter Lorenzen of Rockwell, a cousin of Jlhe bridegroom, and August Stohr of Leroy, were the bridegroom's attendants. Following the ceremony a lunch, eon was served by Mrs. Reuben Olson and Mrs.

Leonard Nelson, assisted by Alpha Olson, Marlene Olson, Jean Olson and Ruth Nelson. The bridegroom entered the armed forces April 30, 1941. He served 39 months overseas in the army engineers supply branch. He received his discharge, with the rank of master sergeant Oct 7, 1945. The bride is principal of the junior high at the Ventura consolidated school.

Following a wedding trip the bridegroom will continue his du ties as a member of the state high way patrol, being located at Man chester. Mrs. Smith will resume her teaching at Ventura. ASHLEY-SMITH Bassett Thomas Ashley, son of Mr. and Mrs.

George Ashley, and Mary Smith, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. W. B. Smith of Eufaula, were married at the home of her parents in Oklahoma.

Mr. and Mrs. Ashley returned from a wedding trip to the border of Mexico and will make their home on his grandfather's farm north of Bassett arnoldTallenson St. Ansgarr The marriage of Agnes Jean Allenson, daughter of Mr. and Mrs.

Roy Allensoo of Eden, N. to Thomas Leymour Arnold of Hamburg, N. took place Dec. 21 at the Methodist church at Hamburg. The Allen-sons were residents of St.

Ansgar and vicinity for several years. Veterans Given Holiday Gifts by Daughters Daughters of Union Veterans of the Civil War met at the rii-iz clubrooms, 105J Delaware S. and reports were made on activities in behalf of veterans. Mrs. August Hanson reported sending 5 cartons ofcigarets to the Des Moines Veterans hospital for Christmas, and Mrs.

S. A. Bem-is, a box of gum and a box of candy bars sent to the hospital at Des Moines. It was voted to subscribe to Look and Liberty maga zines for the Veterans hospital at Knoxville. Mrs.

Bemis announced for Mrs. A. Fisher that Christmas gifts had been distributed to the Civil war widows in Mason City. A communication from Miss Amy Noll, secretary of the G. A.

announced that the 73rd G. A. R. encampment would be held in Des Moines this year. Mrs.

S. A. Bemis presented to Mrs. Leo McGovern, a recent bride, a gift from the tent Carols were sung and gifts from a Christmas tree were distributed by Mrs. Verona Winchell and Mrs.

William Lee. Guests having birthdays in the last half of the year were seated at a specially decorated table. Refreshments were served with Mrs, G. Bull as chairman, Mrs. A.

The maid of honor was attired in a rose nvlon taffeta sown and carried Talisman roses and white ramations and the bridesmaids had identical babv blue chiffon gowns and carried pink carna tions and white chrysanthemums. The flower eirl was dressed in blue taffeta and carried a basket of rose petals. A reception in the church parlors followed the ceremony. A hridal rake toDned with a minia ture bride and bridegroom and decorated blue and rose centered the table. Mrs.

Jack Dickinson served the cake and Miss Alyce Boyce poured. The bride is a graduate of Mason City high school and the Uni-vprsitv of Iowa school of nursinfi. Mr. Otterman is a graduate of Traer high school ana spent zj years active duty in the navy. Since his discharge, he has been attending the University of Iowa and the couple will be at home at Iowa City where he will continue his studies.

Out of town guests were Mmes. Arlen Hoist and Elsie Clock of Traer, Mr and Mrs. William Miller and family of Indianola, Miss Janet Boles of Washington, D. Ariel Juel of Forest City, Bobbie Henderson, Sioux City, and Miss Jennie Miller of Newton. 0 KRUEGER-COONEY New Hampton Miss Mildred Cooney and Walter W.

Krueger were married on Dec. 12 in the Sacred Heart church at Manly, by the Rev. L. F. Derga, pastor, a cousin of the bridegroom.

They were attended by Mr. and Mrs. E. T. Krueger of New Hampton.

The bride is a daughter of Mrs. P. J. Cooney. She is a graduate of the New Hampton high school, The bridegroom is a son of Mrs.

Everett McCord of Iowa Falls, became the bride of Leonard Priestly, machinist's mate 3c, son of the Rev and Mrs. Jonas Priestly of Riceville, Dec. 22, at the home of the bride parents, north of Iowa Falls, the bridegroom's father, a retired Congregational minister, officiating, in the presence of 50 guests. The bride was given In marriage by her father. The attendants were Mrs.

Robert Mmnis of Riceville, sister of the bride, matron of hon or; and Wendell Fowler of brother-in-law of the bridegroom, best man. Preceding the ceremony Franklin McCord, brother of the bride, sang, accompanied by the bride's mother. After the ceremony, luncheon was served to the guests. Mrs. Priestly, a graduate of Ellsworth Junior college in Iowa Falls, taught in Hardin and Franklin counties for several years.

She is now a student nurse' in St Luke's hospital in Cedar Rapids. Mr. Priestly taught in Howard county, and was employed in Gary, for several years. He served in the navy throughout the war, and is now stationed aboard the USS Toledo in Philadelphia, Pa. After a wedding trip to Phila delphia the bride will return to Cedar Rapids to continue her training at St Luke hospital in Cedar Rapids.

Mr. and Mrs. Paul Nau mann living east of Rudd, aiso observed their golden wedding Dec 24. Mr. and Mrs.

Carl Fischer, who have lived all of their married life, with the exception of 3 years in the Charles City vicinity, ob served their 50th wedding anni versary Monday at their farm home. They purchased the farm on which they now live in 1919. Mr. Fischer was born in Ger many, coming to this country with his father at the age of 8, and set tling in Floyd county. Mrs.

Fisch er was also born in Germany and as an infant came to this country with an aunt Her girlhood home was in Minneapolis. Mr. and Mrs. Fischer are the parents of 4 children, Mrs. Harry Venz of Charles City, Harold, at home; Leonard, Minneapolis and Melvin of Charles City.

They have 10 grandchildren and one great grandson. All of their-chil dren and their families planned on participating in the anniversary observance. Mr. and Mrs. Charles Deam of near Chapin observed their golden wedding anniversary Monday with open house at their home from 2 until 4 and from 7 until 9.

They were married at Hampton in 1896 and in 1898 purchased the farm they now occupy. Their 10 children are Miss Effie Dean, at home, Mrs. C. K. Crawford, Mrs.

William Bauge, Onn, Carl and Lester of Hampton, Andrew, Sheffield, Mrs. Alfred Hansen, Rowan, Mrs. Gerald Potts, Creston, and Dale, Boston, Mass. Garner Mr. and Mrs.

W. C. A. Cast, long-time residents of Garner, observed their 50th wedding anniversary on Monday at their home in Garner. Open house was held from 3 to 8 for relatives and friends of the couple.
