-Clarke is the daughter of the Solicitor-General of New South Wales, Australia, and a grandniece of Charles Dickens, the, famous English novelist. She made the trip of nearly 11,000 miles from Australia to the United States in order to rejoin Mr. Clarke, whom she had known for soma time, It is Mrs. Clarke's plan to follow her operatic career in this country.
