Some 340 delegate votes were represented from a 64 county Farm Bureau organizations at the three-day meet and passed over 50 resolutions dealing with local, state and national subjects. Delegates went on record in support of a retail sales tax as, "the most equitable way to' allow each Florida citizen the opportunity to share in providing necessary state services While the resolution did not specifically call for an increase in the present tax, it did point out that such tax proceeds should be apportioned between the county and state and that the county portion should be used in support of public schools in order to relieve the burden of ad valorem taxes.

The tax resolution also asked for continuance of present pro- xisions of the law which prohibits collection of sales tax on materials which are used to produce or manufacture products. Delegates directed FFBF to begin immediate implementation of a program of promotion and distribution of orange juice to all public schools in Florida. Citing examples of such orange juice promotion by the Lake and Polk County Farm Bureau organizations, delegates directed the Federation to work with school boards and any and all commercial operations to assure a continuous supply of orange juice into the public schools of Florida. Marketing received attention and delegates directed the Federation to continue to develop and implement programs to assist farmers in negotiating for equitable contract provisions. fhthein crder 785-3691 In Springfield 785-0761 rose.
