She and her husband cared for more than 60 foster children through the Lutheran Welfare organization since moving to Mason City in 1922.

Services will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday at Trinity Lutheran Church, with the Rev. Lavern R. Hanson officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery.

Visitation is until noon Tuesday at Major Erickson Funeral Home. The family requests memorials be given to the Martha E. Thompson Memorial Fund. Mrs. Thompson, a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, is survived by her husband; a daughter, Mrs.

William D. (Charlotte) Otterman, Mason City; a son. Dr. John Thompson, Iowa City; five grandchildren; two sisters. Mrs.

Harold (Pearl) Smelzer, Whitewater, and Mrs. Ray (Nora) Lasch, Superior, three brothers, William Adams, Madison, Vernon Adams, Avoka, and Nelmer Adams, Highland, Wis. Jessie Atkins Funeral services were held Saturday in Fladreau, S.D., for Mrs. Jessie Hotchkiss Atkins, 100, who died Thursday at a nursing home in Dell Rapids, S.D. She was a native Mason Cityan and a frequent visitor in Osage.

She is survived by five grandchildren and a number of great-grandchildren and great-greatgrandchildren; a brother, Leonard Hotchkiss, Cando, N.D., and a niece, Mrs. LuVern Kinter, Osage. Ralph Jass CLEAR LAKE Funeral arrangements for Ralph Jass, 68, of 600 S. Shore Drive, Clear Lake, who died Sunday at a Mason City hospital, are incomplete at Ward Van Slyke Funeral Home, Clear Lake. Tuesday. Mr. Jass, a retired 17-year employe of Allied Mills, Mason City, is survived by his wife, Gladys; two sisters, Mrs. Walter (Amanda) Eisberg, Garner, and Mrs. Fred (Hattie) Baumgart, Walker, and three brothers, Ed, Ventura; Albert, Clear Lake, and Eugene, Alden.

Hyde, 41, formerly of Clear Lake, were Monday morning at the First Lutheran Church in Chariton. Mrs. Hyde was killed Friday in a car-train accident near Lucas. Burial was in the Venura Cemetery. Mrs.

Visitation will be after 3 p.m. Monday at the Patterson James Murphy Chapel, Rockwell, where a rosary will be spoken 7:30 p.m. Monday. Mrs. Halloran is survived by two daughters.

Kenneth Keating dies in New York WASHINGTON (AP) Kenneth B.

Keating, U.S. ambassador to Israel and before that a U.S. senator, died Monday at Harkness Pavilion Hospital in New York, State Department officials said. Keating, who would have been 75 on May 18, returned from his post in Jerusalem last month suffering from a heart ailment. He was a former ambassador to India and a former congressman from Rochester, N.Y., for nine years beginning in 1946.

Keating's illness coincided with reports that President Ford intended to appoint a high-ranking diplomat to succeed him. Keating's background was largely political. She was a member of Bethany Alliance Church, where she was a youth counselor. Douglas Hunt CHARLES CITY Memorial services for Douglas W. Hunt, 17, who is presumed to have drowned Thursday, will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at the Immaculate Conception Church. The youth's body had not been recovered from the Cedar River Monday. Friends may register at the Hauser Funeral Home and at the church.

Douglas Hunt was a junior at Charles City High School, where he was on the staff of the school newspaper, a member of the chorus and active in a number of other school functions. He is survived by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Hunt; two brothers, Daniel and David, at home; two sisters, Denise and Diane, at home; grandparents, Mr. and Mrs.

Arthur Hunt (Sr.) and Mr. and Mrs. Louis Hagerty, all of Charles City. Fred C. Schmidt great grandchildren.

Mable Radel CHARLES CITY Fred C. Schmidt. 76, died Friday at his home in Charles City. He was a retired employe of the Oliver Corp. Services will be at 10:30 a.m.

Burial was in Medford, with Champion Funeral Home of Osage in charge. Mrs. Radel, formerly of Owatonna, lived with her sisters in Osage the past winter. She is survived by three daughters. Mrs.
