Globe-Gazette, Mason City, la. -4 Hews 'After the Fox fine suspense comedy JUNE 9, H67 'S-' Big show TV Spotlight is on Band Festival By CARL WRIGHT The 29th North Iowa Band Festival takes the spotlight for TV viewers Tuesday when Ken Kew and Doug Sherwin narrate a two-hour-and-30-minute parade program starting at 9:30 a.m. over Channels 3, 12. Howard Kennedy will pick up the festival again with a full-hour interview with the 73 nueen candidates, starting at 4 p.m. on "After the Fox," suspense comedy starring Peter Sellers and directed by Vittorio De Sica; is the first screenplay written by Neil (Doc) Simon, author of Broadway hits, "The Odd Couple'' and "Barefoot in the Park." It would be hard to beat the combination of acting, directorial, writing and production talent assembled for the comedy, which is showing in Panavision and color at the Palace and Lake Theaters.

In the acting department are Sellers, fresh from comic skullduggery of "The Pink Panther" and "What's New Pussycat," his wife, Britt Ekland, who makes her first co-starring appearance, and Victor Mature, who returns to comedy for the first time in years. The film was produced by John Bryan at Cinecitta Studios in Rome and on the beautiful Italian island of Ischia. Its music is by the noted Hollywood personality Burt Bacharach. There is also a ballet, strongly reminiscent of a Mack Sennett chase, which was choreographed by De Sica himself. Thrills galore "Africa Texas Style!" a picture crowded with thrills, is showing at the Park 70.

T-here is one sequence that keeps the audience on edge. It involves a badly dazed Hugh OBrian, a small African boy, and an angry rhino. I It's the climactic moment ip the picture. Brian, playing World Champion Cowboy Jim Sinclair, is taken on the unusual assignment of roping and corraling wild game in Africa. He has been thrown by his horse and has been wandering through the bush.

Search parties have been sent looking for him. Before he can be rescued, he is dis Channel 3. Ken Kew, master of ceremonies for the night show at Roosevelt Stadium, will interview the newly crowned Miss North Iowa at 9 p.m. over Channel 3, at the close of the dav's festivities. uv" 1 1 i A -J WK vj sjy 1 v4 h-' i i ff-ifc I mk fa wm law 1 HUGH o'lUMAN MICHAEL CAINE Skullduggery Uses no (ricks People talking covered by a huge and angry rhino.

There is no trick photography in the film. The rhino charges first at Brian and then at the boy, each nimbly side-stepping nature's answer to the Sherman tank. At length the scene was finished without a shot having been fired from anything but the camera. "Africa Texas Style!" stars Hugh Brian, John Mills, Nigel Green, Tom Nar-dini, Aldrienne Corri and Ronald Howard. It was filmed entirely on location in Kenya, in color.

Askew, Donna Danton and Jim Backus. The screenplay, by Thomas C. Ryan and Horton Foote, is based on the noved by K. B. Gliden.

Music is by Hugo Montenegro. It was photographed in Panavision and Technicolor. Extra features The second hit at the Drive-In Theater only is "A Man Could Get Killed," in Technicolor. James Garner, Melina Mercouri, Sandra Dee and Tony Fransciosa are the stars. The extra show for Friday and Saturday is "Bunny Lake Is Missing." People talking "Hurry Sundown" is playing simultaneously at the Strand and Drive-In Theaters.

It's Otto Preminger's film, suggested for mature audiences, and is one everybody is talking about. Michael Caine, Jane Fonda, John Phillip Law, Diahann Carroll, Robert Hooks, Faye Dunaway and Burgess Meredith are starred with Robert Reed, George Kennedy, Frank Converse, Loring Smith. Simon Templar is a gentleman crook who took justice in his own hands in order' to help those who had been swindled, robbed or in any other way been betrayed by their fellowman.

The world's police, particularly Scotland Yard, are his friends and his enemies at the same time. They know he places himself above the law. They also know he is dedicated to justice. Robert Moore has the sort of tastes one imagines would be those of Charteris' creation. He likes fast sports cars.

He gambles. He like good food, good drink, good clothes. He does all stunts in "The Saint" himself. He became a film extra at the age of 15 and caught the attention of director Brian Desmond Hurst, who suggested he take up an acting career. Just as he began to gain repertory experience at the Cambridge Arts Theater, before his 18th birthday, he went into the army.

Following his discharge from the army, he took a small part in "Mr. Roberts," understudied "The Little Hut," and for a time took over the lead. Then he went to New York and was signed for leading roles in television shows. His first American film was "The Last Time I Saw Paris." His first starring role was opposite Lana Turner in "Diane." International fame came with "Ivanhoe." An Italian company offered him the lead in "The Rape of the Sabines," to be shot iii Rome. Off to Europe he went and for a time lived in Rome until offered the title role in "The Saint." lie filmed 71 episodes of "The Saint" for syndication around the world, then cast aside the halo with the intention of returning to feature films.

But, viewers wanted him back. So he agreed to embark on a new series of entirely fresh stories, this time in color, for the NBC Television network. SATURDAY, JUNE 10 3 li Capt.
