Need Legal Guardians For Patients Volunteer legal guardians are needed for two Cass county patients who are ready for .release from the Logansport state hospital so they can receive old age assistance from the County Welfare Department, Mrs. William Hilc, executive director of the Cass County Association for -Mental Health, reported Thursday. Anyone who is willing to serve as a legal guardian should contact Mrs. Hile at the Menta" Health office, .phone 3984. THE STATE Department " ol Mental Health has, worked out £ plan with the superintendents ol the state mental institutions fot screening all hospital patients 6! years of age and over in order to determine which of them should be referred to county wel fare departments for old 'age as sistance. Longcliff has referred three Cass patients to the welfare department ' under this program, but a legal guardian already has been obtained for one of them. Old agV assistance pays a maximum of $70 per month but this may be supplemented up to $150 per month for nursing home care through the welfare department's medical care funds.
