Pay Increases For County's Workers OKd SAN FBANCISCO--HILLS DA IE UEDWOOD CITY A pay plan for county civil service for the coming fiscal was approved by the civil ervice commission i a ly a split vote.

Despite the request of the ounty board of supervisors for econsidcration of its stand, the ommission a a raises for only some 140 of the county's 1700 classified em- ployes. Mosl of them will gel raises of only 2.9 percent. The board is scheduled to adopl Ihe pay plan May 31. By law, the supervisors have no choice bul lo adopl Ihe plan, although they do not approve of it. There is a possibility, how- ever, that the supervisors may ask the commission lo conduct a mid-year salary survey and that the board will budg'el for mid-year pay raises.

Employe representalives have argued before bolh Ihe board and the commission that a later survey will show thai addilional pay raises arc justified. seating at Redlicks outstanding low price KROEHLER Modison Square hand-sawn low quanto moteasln dip- on, with leather lolt.
