The settlement in the market for publio securities has passed over very quietly, tho balances being exceedingly light, in consequence of the steadlnoss of consols during tho greater part of the past account. After tho arrangement for the adjustment of the account had been completed, the market became firmer, in consequence of tho transfer books for many descriptions of stock shutting to-morrow for the April dividends. For money consols have been done from 90J to 8, and were last quoted buyers at 96J.

Our market THIS MORNING opened with a little firmer tone, but it did not result in any general improvement. A little wheat found retail buyers at the currency of last Tuesday. Oats were very little inquired for, but were not materially lower. Barley and pease wore slow sale at previous rates. Egyptian beans were in large supply, and Is.

French was 8d. per sack lower, and the sale of both quite in retail. Irish flour continues neglected. OLD. NEW.

What was the case here about two or three years ago When the Poles wished to go only as far as France, in 188, they had not the means to leave this country in fact they had not the means to pay their passage. Besides which, there were often diplomatic arrangements in this country which might prevent them leaving the land on some occasions if they desired it.

A Pole, who spoke for his companions, said that, having been made aware of their situation in England, they had come to the determination to remain in it, as it might be shown by the declaration of all present. They had thought that under the laws and institutions of England they might still retain their political character as Polish refugees, and be ready at any time for the service of their country, which opportunity would be entirely out off at a distance from this country. In remaining in England, they relied upon public sympathy to use their energies for work. They felt deeply grateful for the assistance afforded to them in this country, and also for the advice tendered by the gentlemen present but they could not give up their duties to their country in compliance with this advice. Every difficulty which had been represented as existing in England, inseparably from their misfortunes as exiles, would be a hundred times greater if they went to America.

As far as advice reached them from their fatherland, they were assured that they would best serve their country by remaining in Europe. The speaker, at great length, supported his views; and the conference tA fmm Mr. R.nsbt.on that an Feb. 28, at Tarporley Rectory, aged 12, Caroline Frances, third daughter of the Rev. H.
