Asiro-loges says the company is looking for a partner and an arrangement that will allow Oak to participate in a more meaningful way than just as "an equipment manufactu -rer." As a programming company, Oak has garnered experience as owner of five "subscription TV" scries, which scramble a broadcast TV signal to deliver pay-TV programming.

In Los Angeles, Oak's ON TV has thrived, in part because cable-TV service isn't available yet in much of the metropolitan area. "It's clearly just an interim business," Turetsky says. Oak also has subscription or "STV" systems in Chicago, Phoenix, Miami and Dallas, and "may be able to start service early next year" in Houston as well, Astrologes says. It serves a total of 615,000 customers in its current five markets. "There are other (STV) systems around which are eager to sell to us.

If we can do it for the right kind of price, we may very well (buy)," Astrologes says, because, in his words, Oak remains "bullish about STV." 5-B I-B 3912 5-B Ill 2'. 2x 2 1 1313 1 13-14 19-11 1 1)11 1)211 7-B 3-11 l-ll -I 110 l-B l-B l-B USl IX Ix Ix 1005 1 7-U 1 111 IM 3 7'. 2'i 123 Mi 3-16 3-16 6X 6X 15 IS 1 635 It 7 II -I II 3-16 2 2 3 III 140 2X 17 7 22 7-16 3 JX 3 3-II II 7-3? l-B 2 i 716 116 3 7i- I IX 31 3-11 1- II 3-1 311 t.
