KRON-TV--It Could Be You 8:30 KRON-TV--Telephone Hour REALIZES AMBITION NEW YORK (AP)--Christopher Plummer is realizing one of his main acting ambitions in first London appearance. Plummer, who has scored several Broadway successes, is to have the title assignment in Tyrone Guthrie's modern-dress version of "Hamlet," due for spring presentation. The Canadian-born actor's most recent role here was the devil in During the play run Plummer told interviewers that a role he had long wanted to play was the melancholy Dane. HORD PENINSULA HEARING CENTER ISO East 3rd, San Maleo Dl 3-7144 Bob Perhaps the highlight of last season's Desilu Playhouse was a two-part series entitled "The Untouchables," based on the true life experiences of Eloit Ness, former agent for the enforcement of the Prohibition amendment. The two-part series told of how Ness managed, by staying honest, and collecting a group of honest agents around him, broke the back of the Capone gang of Chicago. A few days after the second show appeared, Desi Arnaz received a request from an advertising agency to do the series as a regular feature on the ABC network. This was the beginning of a new series on television which may become the number one show of the season. Last Thursday night the "Untouchables" carried on from the arrest and conviction of Al Capone.

The hectic days in Chicago gangland when ex-Capone henchmen vied for the top spot was graphically illustrated. "The Untouchables" was a well produced, well paced show, one which may bring class to this year's crop of television shows. Robert Stack, a man who doesn't need the work, only took the series because he sincerely believed he could do a job. He proved this without question last Thursday night. The new ABC entry is loaded, it is good television, and I'm sure that Desilu will get a lot of mileage out of the series.

Just about all the badmen of the mid-thirties will be depicted and after having spent several hours with the producer of the series, I'm sure that authenticity will be the byword of the series. NOBODY SINGS HYMNS like Tennessee Ernie Ford. In fact ol' Ern' did the impossible recently. He got a golden record for having sold the one millionth copy of his Capitol Album, "Hymns By Tennessee Ernie Ford." I've long thought that one of the charms of the "Ford Show" is Ernie's ability to sing a-well-known hymn in simple styling. The collection of hymns sung on this album are all presented in the same manner in which he closes his show each Thursday night.

THE MOBILITY OF TAPE for recording television shows in advance will bring a wonderful experience to viewers later this season, especially to those of you who enjoy the efforts of that 16th century TV script writer, William Shakespeare. Right now an NBC crew is busily engaged in recording on tape excerpts from the better. Shakespearean works right at Stratford-On-Avon in England. "A Midsummer Night's Dream" will make up most of the 90-minute work. A 'bald spot can add 20 years to your age.
