Since then, Illinois State Police investigators have explored more than 450 leads in searching for the killer, Lt Harold Brignadello said on Wednesday. And JoAnn Zywicki said that her conversations with investigators have led her to believe that a serial killer may have been responsible.

"That's just something that was kind of put together from what we discussed," she said. "They haven't really said anything specific on it" A link to a particular serial killer has not been established, Brignadello said. "A serial killer situation would be within the realm of possibility, but we are looking at all avenues and wc don't have a specific serial killer in mind," he said.
