Deerpath Lake Forest. Mr. Newbell, who died Tuesday in Lake Forest hospital, was a former Chicago advertising executive and president of Geneva Manufacturing company, Geneva, Ill. He was past president of Knollwood Country club and a past trustee of Ferry Hall school, Lake Forest. Surviving are his widow, Ruth; three daughters, Mrs.

Nancy Schaffer, Mrs. 5. Mary Ann Lamb, and 1 Sally; and four grandchildren. Chester Rant OBITUARIES Albert L. Pick Albert L.

Pick, 76, of Mountain View, former Chicago hardware store owner, died yesterday in Mountain View. Mr. Pick owned a hardware store on Chicago's south side for years before his retirement six years ago. He moved to fornia in 1967. Memorial services will be held in Mountain View tomorrow.

Surviving are his widow, Lillian; three ters, Mrs. Priscilla Cox, Mrs. Jewell 'Andersen, and Dr. Ruth Ann Pick; and five grandchildren. Landon Williamson Services for Landon Williamson, 82, of 960 E.

Williamson died Monday in Provident hospital. He retired in 1958 after 35 years wtih the steel company. Surviving are his widow, Mahogany; a daughter, Mrs. Myrtle Adkins; three sons, Lehman, Carl, and Lucas; a brother; and six grandchildren. Mrs.

George Simon Mrs. Naomi Simon, 61, of 1513 Chase died yesterday in Michael Reese hospital. Her husband, George, is an attorney with offices at 100 N. La Salle st. Surviving, in addition to her husband, is a daughter, Mrs.

Tirzah Ball; a son, Daniel; three grandchildren; a brother; and three sisters. Services will be held at 10 a. m. tomorrow in the chapel at 6130 N. California av.

Miss Frances Shea Mass for Miss Frances Shea, 75, of 3835 N. Southport will be said at 10 a. m. tomorrow in St. Andrew's Catholic church, 3546 N.

Paulina st. Miss Shea, who died Tuesday, retired five years ago after 50 years as a 5th and 6th grade teacher in Gray Elementary school, 3700 N. Laramie av. 3 Chicago GIs Killed in Viet Fighting Three Chicago suburban service 1 men, one a marine, have been killed in Viet Nam recently, the defense department said yesterday. Pfc.

James M. Kalter, 21, son of Mrs. Florence Kalter, 211 Wolf Prospect Heights, died Monday in the army hospital at Long Dinh. He had been wounded last Saturday when he was hit by shrapnel from an enemy grenade while he was on bunker duty near Cu Chi. Besides his mother, Pfc.

Kalter leaves two brothers, Willard, 33, and Lawrence, 31; and a sister, Gloria 25. Also killed in action was Pfc. Carter J. Freund, 22, son of Mr. and Mrs.

Ernest P. Freund, 1412 Park McHenry. He had been guarding a refugee camp in Quang Ngai province when he was wounded in an enemy fire fight, the defense department said. He died the same day, last Saturday. Besides his parents, Pic.

Freund leaves a twin brother, Curtis, and a sister Mrs. Patricia Brownyard. Marine Pfc. David Ybarra, 19, son of Mr. and Mrs.

Candelario Ybarra, route 2, Crete, also was killed recently in combat. He had been in Viet Nam two months, his mother said. Others from the midwest killed in Viet Nam included: ARMY Pfc. Glenn A. Tompkins, Sterling, Ill.

C. PROF HERMAN FINER Aided Daley Against Fraud Charges Services for Herman Finer, 71, of 5710 Blackstone professor emeritus of political history at the University of Chicago, will be held at 10 a. m. today in Temple Isaiah Israel, 1100 E. Hyde Park blvd.

Mr. Finer, author of many books on politics and political science and a former lecturer and reader at the London School of Economics, died Tuesday in Michael Reese hospital, where he had been a patient since last Friday. Defended Mayor Daley He was a former member of the Chicago regional port district board. In 1960, with Herman Finer two other U. of C.

political science professors, he defended Mayor Daley and the Democratic administration against charges of widespread vote fraud in the November, 1960, election. Born in Romania, Mr. Finer was raised: in England, where he received degrees from the London of Economusehool ics. While a resident of England, he served on the civil service arbitration tribunal, was a member of the Fabian society, and was active in the Labor party. Altho he was a lecturer and reader at the London school from 1920 to 1942, he spent a number of those years in the United States.

In 1935, 1941, and 1942 he was visiting professor of political science at the U. of and in 1937 and 1938 he was director of research into administration for the Tennessee valley authority. Survivors Are Listed He was special consultant to the post-war reconstruction unit of the International Labor Organization, with headquarters in Montreal, from 1942 to 1944, when he became visiting professor at Harvard university. He became a professor at the U. of C.

in 1946 and professor emeritus in 1963, He was a speaker on wide ranging subjects, from the education of nurses to the status of teachers and the responsibilities of parents and the home as opposed to the. 1 responsibilities of schools. IT'S NO MISTAKE THIS TIME DEAD GI IS HER SON Elizabethton, March 5 (P)-The body of army Pfc. Freddie Guinn, 20, arrived today from Viet Nam and was identified by his grieving mother. "That's my boy, all right," said Blanche Guinn after viewing the body at a funeral home. One identifying mark was a tattoo in the shape of a cross, on his left hand, Guinn was killed in Viet Nam Feb. 23.

Mrs. Guinn had said she wanted to identify her son personally because she was caught up 15 months ago in a mistaken identity case involving another soldier. The army sent here in November, 1967, a soldier's body it had identified as Pfc. John Wayne Guinn. Mrs.

Guinn buried the body as her son. But it turned out later the army had made a mistake in identification and Mrs. Guinn's grief turned to joy. Deaths David Leibowitz, 65, inventor of the Davidka mortar used successfully in the 1948- 1949 Israeli war of independence; became active in the nation's fledgling military industries in the 1940s and later headed a large agricultural concern; in Tel Aviv, Israel. Ardmore Villa Park, was killed yesterday when the car she was driving was struck by a west bound freight train at the Illinois Central railroad crossing in Addison road, south of North avenue She was a teacher at Ridge elementary school in Elk Grove Village. Cook, 50, of 29 Roosevelt Lake In The 49 Chicago's DEAD 1969 Traffic Toll 5,789 INJURED Hills, was killed early yesterday in a collision at Donlea and County Line roads in Barrington Hills. Collides with Truck Police said a car driven by Cook collided with a semitrailer truck driven by Gerald B. Utt, 38, of 191 Wildwood lane, Wheeling, who was not injured. A passenger in the Cook car, John J. Hume, of 520 Walnut Lake in The Hills, was taken in critical condition to Sherman hospital in Elgin.

James Kenney, 46, of 5415 Ellis was killed early yesterday when his auto ran off the Dan Ryan expressway and struck an embankment at 39th: st. As of midnight Tuesday, 89 persons had been killed in traffic accidents in Cook county since Dec. 31. Of those, 49 were in Chicago, where 5,789 persons were injured in the same period.
