sjp iji fri lyiqp 0 yi Wednesday, December 13, 1989 HYNES Obituaries Almanac Retired Quaker Oats exec Angus MacDonald By Christi Parsons Services for Angus MacDonald, 81, a retired executive of Quaker Oats Co. and organizer of Scottish festivals in the Chicago area, will be held at 4 p.m. Thursday in Winnetka Congregational Church, 725 Pine St, in the suburb. He died Monday in his Winnetka home. A graduate of Yale University, Mr.

MacDonald served as a lieutenant commander on the USS Enterprise aircraft carrier during World War II, then joined Quaker Oats at its Pe-terborough, Ontario, plant as a mechanical worker. He later became assistant manager of the company's mill in St Joseph, and manager of the mill in Akron before returning to Chicago as director of purchasing. In 1959, he was named vice presi dent in charge of purchasing, a post he held until he retired in 1970. Since then, Mr. MacDonald has been recognized frequently for in-C vorvement in activities of the area's Scottish population, and especially for showing up at yearty haggis diiw ners wearing a kilt and carrying i The traditional Scottish haggis dishC of sheep liver, lungs and heart was -among his favorite dishes not only' because of its commemoration of Scotland's patron St Andrew but also because it tastes good, MacDonald told The Tribune at a-haggis dinner in 1968.

I Mr. MacDonald was a longtime advisory board member of the Chi-: cago Council of the Boy Scouts of America. He is survived by two sisters. Stephen T. Hynes, 49; helped cool off State of Illinois Center Section 2 Chicago Tribune.
