Girl Scouts Plan Activities (TlniM Service) SOUTH FRANCISCO, Sept. first meeting of the season for Girl Scout leaders was held last Wednesday at the recreation building in the Orange Avenue Memorial park. Mrs. Helen Gould, executive director of Northern San Mateo county; and Miss Carolyn Passonneau, Northern County field director, were present and assisted with the meeting. Training Planned Training calenders were discussed and also the placing of girls in the right troops.

Leaders attending signed up for the different training courses presented. Mrs Doris Lloyd, Elizabeth Thum and Lazella Hargraves were appointed to close the Girl Scout Camp Wasibo for the season. Courses Scheduled Introductory training courses will be held from September 22 through November 10 on Thursdays at Colma town hall. Advance training courses will be held on Wednesdays, September 28 through November 2 at Girls Scout auditorium in Colma. First Aid courses will be held on Monday evenings, 7 to .10 p.m., September 39 through November 7, in San Bruno scout house on Taylor and Carleton streets.

Nine work shops are Hsted: Nature, Tuesdays, September 20 and 27 at Colma town hall; games and singing games for Brownies Thursdays, 22 and 29 at Oraage Memorial recreation build ing; games and folk dancing for Girl Scouts, Thursdays, October 6 and 13 at Orange Memorial park recreation building; "our friends around the world," Friday, September 30 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. a Colma auditorium. Songs for scouts, Tuesdays, Oct obcr 4 and 11 at Girls Scout office auditorium in Colma; badges in ir termediate program, Fridays, Ocl ober 7, 14, and 21 at Colma audi torium; senior troop program, Tues days October 25, November 1, 8 and 15; troop dramatics, Thursday November 17, Girl Scout auditorium in Colma. Leadero Register Leaders must register for courses by September 15, and must have them turned into Girl Scout Office, Route 1, Box 235B, Colma, 25.

12. Next Wednesday evening, at the City Hall HomevievAlecreation association members, just completing a Toddle park in their district, will meet to pass on by-laws and hold an election of officers. The group met last week with Ernest Krutt- schnit presiding. The committee to formulate the by-laws includes Robert Whitney and James Ice. The group is interested in main tenance for their park.

In lieu of help from tbe city, Denver Wilson has volunteered to keep the park grass watered for two weeks Charles Batchelder has donated lumber for seats and tables in the park. Gas Bugs Race At Bruno Park (Timef Coontr pltws BfrrJee) SAN BRUNO, Sfpt. 12--The San Bruno "gas bugs" have obtained the sanction of the chamber of commerce and park commission to race their midget cars and planes in San Bruno citv park. On Labor day a crowd of 500 watched the tiny cars obtain a speed of 85 miles per hour.

Every precaution is being made to protect spectators, and plans are completed to build a crash wall. A one-sixtprnth mile track space was donated by the park commission. Those owning cars and running them on the track are Bill Bailey, president; Gene Bloesch, Dr. P. H.

Hand, Larry Sclroemaker, Rose Pinto, and Eleanor Bordo, with Verne Pickett and Bob Myers owning planes. The club has members from Mill brae, San Bruno, South San Fran cisco, Redwood City, Sharp Park and San Mateo. Both adult and teen-agers are welcome.
