6 Part II Monday, March IS, 1982 Cos Angeles dimes 'LAW STUDENTS NARCS: Front Lines Continued from 5th Page Boom, boom, boom, boom. Crowbars and a battering ram assault the iron door. Officers Scott Reeves, slinging a sledge hammer, pounds a gaping hole in the stucco wall a few feet from the door to confuse the occupants and divert attention from the main entry team. As he pierces the wall, Reeves spots a suspect with a handgun running out of sight into a rear bedroom. Reeves shouts a warning to the entry team.

Outside, other officers are positioned on the ground below the bedroom windows. "They're throwing dope!" police shout, as packages of marijuana are thrown out of the bedroom window. A weapon is also tossed out. Within a minute, the entry team has forced the doors and four suspects are ordered to the floor. The apartment is secured.

No shots are fired. There are no injuries. This time. "You guys are going to jail for the rest of your life," Detective Norman Eckles shouts. Police find no PCP.

They find a quantity of marijuana, and a shoe box containing $5,647 in cash. Outside the apartment, a woman near tears is looking for her son. She had come to Sherm Alley to find him. He has been arrested on PCP charges before. She prays he's not here again.

"There's nothing down here but death," she says. A New Experience in Legal Writing LONO TERM SENIOR BAR I FIRST YEAR STUDENTS Jutf 1M7 1 Contract! They identified the convict as Kenneth F.

Troyer, 36, who had escaped last January from the California Men's Colony at San Luis Obispo, where he was serving a sentence for burglary. Anaheim police said their Crime Task Force received a tip that Troyer would meet a woman at about 12:40 p.m. Sunday at 2208 N. Main St. in Santa Ana, and officers staked out the location.

After the woman, identified as Pamela Cuen, 24, of Santa Ana, got into Troyer's car, officers ordered him to halt and opened fire when he sped away, police said. Troyer drove to 17th Street and Cabrillo Park Drive, where he lost control and hit a tree, police said. As Troyer came out of the car he made a "furtive move" and was shot by officers, police said. He died later at Western Medical Center, Santa Ana. Cuen was not injured, police said.
