Mrs. Marshall, a longtime Chicago resident and recently of Glenview, died Monday in St. Francis Hospital, Evanston.

She was a proofreader for the old Daily News for 10 years before retiring 1973; previously she spent 35 years as a proofreader at R.R. Donnelley Sons Co. 2223 S. Martin Luther King Dr. She is survived, by a daughter, grandchildren; and 7 great-grandchildren.

Ernest Blomquist Services for Ernest R. Blomquist, 68, a former administrator at Rush-Presbyterian-St. Luke's Medical Center, will be held at 11:30 a.m. Wednesday in St. Mark Lutheran Church, 200 S.

Wille Mt. Prospect. Mr. Blomquist, a Mt. Prospect resident, died Sunday in Northwest Community Hospital, Arlington Heights.

He had woriced for Rush-Presbyterian-St. Luke's for 23 years. Survivors include his wife, Olga; three sons, Ernest, Thomas and Mark; four grandchildren; and a sister. Anthony M. Spizzirri Mass for Anthony M.

Spizzirri, 65, a packing company laborer, will be said at 10 a.m. Wednesday in St. Thomas More Catholic Church, 81st Street and California Avenue. Mr. Spizzirri, a Southwest Side resident, died Saturday in Loyola University Medical Center, near Maywood.

Survivors include his wife, Teresa; two daughters, Phyllis and Marguerite Pietrzak; two sons, Martin and Thomas; and four grandchildren. partment of Streets and Sanitation, will be said at 7 p.m. Tuesday in St. Timothy Catholic Church, 6326 N. Washtenaw Ave.

Mrs. Daniels, 62, of the Rogers Park neighborhood, died Wednesday in Lakeside Veterans Adminstration Hospital. Survivors include his wife, Dorothy; a daughter, Cynthia Schaefers; a son, Terence; a stepdaughter, Gloria Rowan; a foster daughter, Mary Gianfortune; 12 grandchildren; and a great-grandson. Augustus Webster Services for Augustus Webster, 47, of the North Side, will be held at 8 p.m. Tuesday in the chapel at 1970 Asbury Evanston.

Mr. Webster, who died Friday in St. Francis Hospital, Evanston, was the owner of the New Gaslight Lounge, 1547 W. Howard St. Survivors include his wife, Jean; a daughter, Tammy; a brother, and a sister.

Thomas P. Scanlan Mass for Thomas P. Scanlan, 89, founder and publisher of the Surplus Record, a Chicago-based trade magazine for the used machinery industry, was said Monday in Church of St. Mary, 175 E. Illinois Lake Forest.

He died Wednesday at his home in Ft. Lauderdale, Fla. A native of Chicago, Mr. Scanlan graduated from the University of Notre Dame in 1917 and served in the U.S. Army.

After World War he returned to Chicago and worked for a time selling advertising for a machinery trade magazine. In 1924, he began his own publication devoted to promoting the surplus-equipment business. The monthly magazine, with offices at 20 N. Wacker has a circulation of 64,000. Survivors include his wife, Josephine; a daughter, Joanne Ceding; 13 home.

She was a native of Ed-mondson, Ark. Survivors include a son, Dennis Banks; six daughters, Jacqueline Brown, Jonnie Byndon, Elsie, Dcbby, Victoria and Johnnie Mae Miller-Cleaves, an administrative assistant in The Tribune's Style section; eight grandchildren; her mother, Elsie Todd; and a brother. Etta G. Humphries Mass for Etta G. Humphries 65, a former civilian employee at 5th Army headquarters in Chicago, will be said at 7 p.m.

Wednesday in St. Edmond Episcopal Church, 6105 S. Michigan Ave. Mrs. Humphries, a South Side resident, died June 16 in Little Company of Mary Hospital, Evergreen Park.

She worked the 5th Army's communications center when it was based in the Hyde Park neighborhood. Elizabeth A. Boyd Services for Elizabeth A. Boyd, 95, widow of T. Kenneth Boyd, a member of the Chicago Board of Trade for 50 years and a successful investor, will be held at 2 p.m.

Tuesday in the chapel at 3200 Greenich Evanston. Mrs. Boyd, a Winnetka resident for more than 40 years, died Saturday in Alexian Brothers Medical Center, Elk Grove Village. She had served as board of director president for the Scholarship and Guidance Association of Chicago, and was an active supporter of the Frontier Nursing Service in Wendover, Ky, which was one of the first schools of midwifery. Survivors include two daughters, Barbara Mickey and Marion Dietzgen; two sons William A.

and Thomas 10 grandchildren; and 9 great-grandchildren. Robert S. Daniels Mass for Robert S. Daniels, 62, a truck driver with the Chicago De William J. Scott Services for former Illinois Atty.

Gen. William J. Scott, 59, will be held at 1 1 a.m. Thursday in Fourth Presbyterian Church, 126 E. Chestnut St Mr.

Scott, who achieved an international reputation for his battle on behalf of the environment, died Sunday of a heart attack at his home in southwest suburban Palos Heights. Mr. Scott was first elected attorney general in 1968 and won election to an unprecedented fourth term 10 years later despite a widely publicized federal grand jury investigation of his personal and campaign finances. That investigation led to a 1980 conviction for income tax fraud. Mr.

Scott served 7 months of a 366-day sentence. After the Illinois Supreme Court restored Mr. Scott's law license in 1983, he was associated with the Loop law firm of Burditt, Bowles Radzius Ltd. He was admitted to the bar in 1950 but began his professional career as a banker, first at American National Bank of Chicago and later at National Boulevard Bank. In 1959 Mr.

Scott became a special assistant U.S. attorney to prosecute Calumet City vice cases. Three years later at age 36, he was elected state treasurer. He also was an elder in the Presbyterian Church and was a trustee of MacMurray College in Jacksonville, 111. Mr.

Scott is survived by his wife, Ellen; a son, William a daughter, Elizabeth Anne Petersen; and a sister. Mattie Bertha Miller Services for Mattie Bertha Miller, 59, of Hyde Park, will be held at 8 p.m. Tuesday in the chapel at 7838 S. Cottage Grove Ave. Mrs.

Miller, who had worked in the cafeterias at Shoesmith and Bret Harte Elementary Schools, died Friday in her In 1956, Col. Gamal Abdel Nasser was elected president of Egypt. In 1947, in what is believed to be the first report of "flying saucers," Kenneth Arnold of Boise, Idaho, claimed he observed nine "shining, saucerlike objects" over Mt. Rainier, Wash. In 1948, the Soviet Union began the Berlin blockade by halting road and rail traffic between Berlin and West Germany.

Norman A. Arciola Mass for Norman A. Arciola, 66, an employee of the Art Institute of Chicago, will be said at 9:30 a.m. Thursday in St. Priscilla Catholic Church, 6969 W.

Addison St. Mr. Arciola, a Northwest Side resident, died Sunday in Rush-Presbyterian-St. Luke's Medical Center. He had worked for the Art Institute for 13 years, installing paintings and other arts works in its galleries.

Mr. Arciola is survived by his wife, Adele; two sons, Norman and Dan; a daughter, Marylyn Seyfert; and a granddaughter. Stanley D. Levy Services for Stanley D. Levy, 75, formerly of the Chicago area, were held Monday in Phoenix.

Mr. Levy, who died Saturday at Humana Hospital in Phoenix, was a self-employed accountant in Chicago before moving to Phoenix in 1975. He was a member of B'nai B'rith and Temple Kam-Isaiah Israel in Chicago. He is survived by his wife, Jean; a son, Stanley; two daughters, Susan Dooley and Lois DiTommaso; six grandchildren; and a brother. Harvey M.

Peck Services for Harvey M. Peck, 62, retired director of management for the Chicago Housing Authority, will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday in the chapel at 111 Skokie Wilmette. Mr. Peck, a Wheeling resident, died Sunday while vacationing in Camarillo, Calif.
