Almond ofliciating. The affair ws a quiet one to which only a few relatives and friends had been invited. Miss Hixon is quite a social fa vorite in Mangham, beipg the daughter of quite a prominent family possessed ofauany admirable charms that make woman all that is beautiful. Mr. Cochran is the principal of the Mangham School, having come from Texas two years ago to take charge of the school at Alto.

He has many warm frienns in both towns, as well as Rayviile, all of whom wish him and his far' bride all the good things of life. Mr. and Mrs. Cochran will make their home in Mangham. Jay M.

Courtney killed by W. 0. Jones. Jay Courtney was shot and killed Christmas day by Jones the Ialter's store io the 5th ward, near Mangham. Both are well known white farmers of the 5th ward.

They quarreled over a game of cards, or dice, an 1 were driuking. Courtney was shot several times, a pistol being the weapon Jones -Qsed, death resulting atmost instantly. "A pistol winch aafl not Dee urea was found ly-isg by Courtney's side. Jones weeompanied Deputy Sheriff E. L.

Williams to-Rayville Sunday and was released on 81,000 bond. Mrs. Williams Dies Io Shreveport. The Richland relatives and friends -ol-Mrs. Mary Williams, widow of the late E.

II. this parish, rtgret to learn of her death last' luesuay in bbreveport, where sue bus made her home with her son, S. O. Williams for several years. The remains were brought over Wednesday and ouried in the Little Creek Cemetery Thursday.

Mrs. Williams made her borne in this parish narly all her life, being the example of a good Christian lady, a devoted mother and affectionate wife. Many friends still remain near the old homestead; who came to pay a last tribute Thursday and shed a tear by her open grave. A party of Girard sportsmen spent the week camping on Boggy Bayou deer hunting thr week. Reports come in of all kinds of auccess. They were joined oo the hunt by several Rayviile hunters.

A party of sportsmen speut the week in the swamp northeast of Rayviile tamped on the Collins Lake on a deer hunt this week, meetiug with tine success, having good luck from the first evening out. Rayviile was not unlike other towns in having its Christmas injuries to those who prank with fireworks, and particularly the big cannon cracker.
