Wednesday in Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Roman Catholic Church, 690 W. Belmont Ave. Mrs. Ward, a Chicago native who lived many years on North Lake Shore Drive, died Monday in a Chicago nursing home.

Her husband, who died in 1955, organized major league baseball's first All-Star Game in 1933. A year later, he founded the All-Star football game, a Tribune Charities' event that pitted college stars against the National Football League champion. Survivors include a son, Thomas. Laurence C. Hill Services will be private for Laurence C.

Hill, 58, a real estate broker. Mr. Hill, of Schaumburg, died Friday in Humana Hospital, Hoffman Estates. He was associated with Century 21 CLF Realtors, Schaumburg. Survivors include a daughter, Lisa; a son, Nick; and two sisters.

William H.G. Toms Sr. Services will be private for William H.G. Toms 66, a shipping clerk from the Brighton Park neighborhood. Mr.

Toms died Sunday in Holy Cross Hospital. Survivors include his wife, Shirley; a son, William and two daughters, Belinda and Cynthia. Mary S. Kearns Mass for Mary S. Kearns, 77, mother of Kane County Coroner Mary Lou Kearns, was said Monday in St.

John Neumann Church, St. Charles. Mrs. Kearns died Thursday in her St. Charles home.

Survivors also include her husband, Joseph; two other daughters, Helen Gilbert and Patricia Wogulis; five sons, Jack, Michael, Joseph, Terry and Bob; two brothers; and four sisters. Minnie M. Layne Graveside services for Minnie Myrtle Layne, 100, a retired sales clerk for Marshall Field Co. in Chicago, will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday in Graceland Cemetery, 4001 N.

Clark St. Mrs. Layne, of Michigan City, died Saturday in St. Anthony Hospital, Michigan City. Mrs.

Layne, born in Chicago, moved to Michigan City 30 years ago. Survivors include four grandchildren and four greatgrandchildren. Robert J. Zuttermeister Sr. Services for Robert J.

Zuttermeister 58, of Glenview, will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday in the chapel at 6251 W. Dempster Morton Grove. Mr. Zuttermeister died Saturday in Lutheran General Hospital, Park Ridge.

He was. founder and president of R.C.H. Tool 6401 Chestnut Morton Grove. Survivors include a son, Robert a daughter, Donna Jo; and two grandchildren. Samuel Goldschen Services for Samuel Goldschen, 75, a wholesale beer salesman for 40 years, will be held at 2 p.m.

Tuesday in the chapel at 9200 N. Skokie Skokie. Mr. Goldschen, of Des Plaines, died Sunday in Lakeside Medical Center. Survivors include his wife, Lilyan; a son, Charles; a daughter, Myra D'Alessio; three grandchildren; and a brother.

John J. Whalen Mass for John J. Whalen, 90, a retired employee of the Metropolitan Sanitary District, will be said at 10 a.m. Tuesday in St. Fabian Catholic Church, 7438 W.

83d Bridgeview. Mr. Whalen, a resident for 12 years, died Wednesday in Orlando, where he was vacationing. Before retiring in 1962, he was superintendent of structural-iron workers for. the district.

Mr. Whalen, an Army veteran of World War was born in the Washington Heights borhood on the Far South Side. Survivors include his wife, Anne; 2 daughters, Margaret Meyer and Lorraine Fox; 11 grandchildren; and 8 great-grandchildren. Norman Pierce Services are pending for Norman Pierce, 69, a former Chicago radio announcer and film producer. Mr.

Pierce, a Chicago native, died Monday in a La Jolla, hospital. He lived in Laguna Niguel, Calif. He worked in Chicago radio in the 1940s and 1950s. Clare Dowd Mass for Clare Dowd, 89, of the Northwest Side, will be said at 10 a.m. Wednesday in St. Viator Roman Catholic Church, 4170 W. Addison St. She died Monday in Glenbrook Hospital, Glenview.

Survivors include four sons, James, Joseph, Michael and Charles; six daughters, Isabelle Maloney, Patricia Noland, Kathleen Eisinger, Adrienne Gleason, Clare Mertes and Mary Dowd; and 53 grandchildren. Henry J. Lenting Services for, Henry J. Lenting, 44, vice president of First National Bank in Harvey, will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday in the Protestant Reformed Church of South Holland, 15924 South Park in the suburb.

Mr. Lenting, of Lansing, died Monday in St. Margaret's Hospital, Hammond, Ind. He worked with the bank for 27 years. He was on the board of the YMCA in Harvey and was a member of the South Suburban Chamber of Commerce.

Survivors include his wife, Johanna; two sons, David and Daniel; his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Adrian Lenting; six brothers; and a sister.
