Tuesday, November 17, 1981 Part III 5 Coo Anfldeo (Etmeo I Pi SPECIAL DETROIT Seniors (60--), All Students, Rkn Mf8MftS Military and Kids. (I.D. Required) S7.00 Tickets for 83.50 TOMORROW EVERY GAME 7:30 PM All Games RADIO 1150AM third play of an 89-yard drive and the longest run of Muncie's career. With a whole lot of help from the Chargers, Seattle got the touchdown back with a 61-yard drive. Forty-four yards came on Charger penalties, a 15-yarder on Leroy Jones for roughing Zorn and a 29-yarder on Wyatt Henderson for pass interference covering Largent.

Brown got the touchdown, his second, from the 1. Only 57 seconds remained in the half, but the Chargers got close enough for Rolf Benirschke to kick a 32-yard field goal. They moved the ball downfield on a 24-yard pass to Kellen Winslow, a 13-yard run by Muncie and an 1 1 -yard pass to Brooks. When Seattle turned the Chargers away at the goal line at the start of the second half and Doornink made his touchdown dash, the Chargers were dead. "We hadn't beaten San Diego in the regular season," Seattle Coach Jack Patera said.

"We finally got that monkey off our back." That monkey is not out of business, however. He can now be found on the Chargers' backs. Select Copy Systems of Southern California 722 W. A ') 1 2K, (213) 956 1804 1 7 1 4 770-1200 (8051 4')7-0)2')'(H05 2Mi CHARGERS Continued from First Page was off, eluding Iho Chargers' Wyatt Henderson at the Charger 25 en route to an 80-yard touchdown. "That," said White, "was a 14-point swing." Suddenly, Seattle was ahead, 31-17.

A Muncie fumble and a Dan Fouts interception would lead to 10 more Seattle points and a turn-out-the-lights margin of 41-17 early in the fouth period. The Chargers had lost three fumbles, surrendered one interception and incurred 138 yards in penalties, six of the penalties leading to Seattle first downs. Each of the turnovers led to Seattle points. Muncie's ball -carrying kept the Chargers close in the first half. Muncie rushed 11 times for 119 yards in that half and scored his two touchdowns.

However, a couple of fumbles by Muncie's running mate, James Brooks, led to a pair of 44-yard touchdown drives by the Seahawks and Muncie's efforts served only to cut into the deficit. The Chargers went into the game determined to control the ball and keep the beleaguered defense off the field as much as possible. They were successful until Brooks' fumbles produced 14 relatively quick Seattle points in the second period and turned it into a shootout. Indeed, on the Chargers' first possession, they drove 78 yards to a touchdown on a drive that took 15 plays and consumed 7 minutes 49 seconds. Muncie got the touchdown from the one.

Eight of the 15 plays were rushes, most behind Wilk-erson and Billy Shields on the left side. The other seven were passes, and Fouts completed all of them for 63 yards. Seattle was to score the first 17 points of the wild second period, however, and the conservative approach went out the window. The Charger defense was doing quite well against Zorn and and looked as if it was going to get out of the first period surrendering only one first down. The Seahawks were forced to punt for a third time, but Linden King was guilty of holding and Seattle had a first down.

Given life, Zorn promptly passed for 24 yards to Steve Largent and got 26 yards off right tackle from Theotis Brooks 6 28 4 6 0 Cappelletti 4 IG 4 00 0 Totals 30 196 6 60 2 Seattle TCB NYG Aug TD Brown 18 83 4 61 2 Smith 9 43 4 7fl 0 Hughes 4 20 6 00 0 Doornink 4 9 2 26 1 Zorn 2 1 0 60 0 Totals 37 166 4 22 3 (r FORECLOSURE BY LENDERS PUBLIC AUCTION: Pasting PA PC PI Yd TD 8an Diego Fouts 34 20 1 262 1 0 39 0 1 291 1 9 4 43 24 Luther Totals 8eettle Zorn PA PC PI Yd TD 22 11 0 212 2 8CORE BY QUARTERS San Diego 10 0 6 Soottlo 0 24 0 4t SD Muncie 1 run IBenirschko kick) Sea f-G Heneta 2b Sea Brown 2 run (Horr era kick) Sea -S Smith 18 pass Iron) Zorn (Her rerakick) SD- Muncie 73 run (Benirschke kick) Sea Brown 1 run (Horrora kick SD FG Benirschke 32 Sea Doornink BO pass Irom Zorn Herrera kick) Sea Doornink 3 fun (Herrera kick) Sea FG Herrera 30 SD Chandler 22 pass from Fouts (kick tailed) Sea FG Herrera 23 Attendance 68,628 TEAM 8TATI8TIC8 8D Sea First downs 26 24 Rushes-yards 30-196 3M66 Net yd. passing 291 212 Sacks-yd lost 0-0 0 0 Passes 24 43 11 22 ret 0-0 1-33 Plays-net yd 73-486 69 -368 Punts-average 1-400 2-410 Punts ret -yd 2-9 0-0 Kickolls 9-169 4-74 Fumbles-lost 4-3 0-0 Penalties-yards 13-138 6-64 Time ot possession .30.43 29: 1 7 INDIVIDUAL STATISTICS Rushing San Diego TCB NYG Aug TD Muncie 20 151 7 66 2 HUNTINGTON HARBOUR WATERFRONT CONDOMINIUM 11 A.M., SUNDAY, NOV. 22, ON PREMISES, 3295 MORITZ DRIVE Excellent Assumable Financing Inspect Noon to 5 p.m., on Nov. 14, 15, 20 and 21. 3-bedrooms, 2Vi baths, overlooking main channel.

Brown, who finished with 83 yards on 18 rushes. The drive bogged, but Efren Herrera salvaged a 25-yard field goal. And now come the Brooks fumbles, the first on the kickoff return led to a two-yard touchdown run off left tackle by Brown.

The key play was a 27-yard pass interference penalty against the Chargers' Pete Shaw, the first of two costly pass interference penalties. The Chargers were moving on their next possession, but Brooks fumbled again at the 44 as once again he was twisting in quest of extra yardage. When the Charger defense stiffened at the 18, the Seahawks set up for a field goal but Seattle does not always attempt a field goal when it sets up to do so. Herrera broke left as the ball was snapped, and Zorn dished a little shovel pass to Sherman Smith coming across from the left side. Smith caught the pass and ran the 18 yards for a touchdown and a 17-7 lead.

Muncie struck very quickly to get the score to 17-14, veering off left tackle, getting a block from Charlie Joiner and going 73 yards for a touchdown.
