SALE, A-Bomb Foes Take the Necessary Steps By KARL SCHOENBERGER, Times Staff Writer Nearly 150 people hiked a 15-kilometer course in Irvine Sunday to raise money for the Orange County Alliance for Survival, an anti-nuclear activist group. People of various ages, many with bright yellow T-shirts saying "One nuclear bomb can ruin your whole day," gathered shortly before noon at Irvine's Heritage Park for a pre-walk rally. Irvine City Council member Mary Ann Gaido commended the walkers for their "courage" in taking up an unpopular cause in "conservative" Orange County.

"You disturb us, challenge us to get out of our comfortable, anesthetized lives," Gaido said. Jets from an air show getting under way at nearby El Toro Marine Corps Air Station roared overhead during the rally, partly drowning out singer Anna (Banana) Hamilton as she belted out a repertoire of anti-nuclear songs. Alliance for Survival had anticipated more than 300 participating in the event, called "Walk for Our Future," but coordinator Tim Carpenter said he was pleased with the lesser turnout. He said the Alliance would probably raise more than $3,000 through pledges solicited by the walkers. Carpenter said the alliance's budget during the past year was about $40,000.

The organization has a mailing list of close to 6,000 and about 2,500 active members. Carpenter said. OUR SAND FROST MINK JACKETS. $2100 and $2300 Buy your fur now and we won't bill you until September, 1982 Sand frost dyed mink jackets. Two beautiful expressions of a sumptuous, flattering fur.
