W-Brad Meyers, Washington State's 6-4 sophomore forward from Seattle, has quit the Cougar basketball team again. Meyers left the team for one week in mid-December to consider his future at Washington State, but returned to school after missing four games. He could not be reached for comment on his latest departure. Meyers had played in 13 of the Cougars' 17 games this season, averaging 3.2 points per game.

The Californians have invited China to send a youth soccer delegation in return at the end of this year, but Leopold says no agreement has been reached. Betsy Siegmund, managing director of the American delegation, said the trip will be financed through corporate donations and local fund raising by players and their families. PEKING Seven boys and girls soccer teams from Southern California will play six games each with Chinese teams here next summer. Seymour Leopold, a regional commissioner of the American Youth Soccer Organization from Arcadia, said Friday the three boys and four girls teams will play in Peking, Shanghai and Canton under a program arranged by the All -China Sports Federation and All-China Youth Federation.

"We think these soccer games will be an unmatched opportunity for American and Chinese youth to get to know each other at an early age," Leopold said. "This can help form a strong people-to-people basis for Sino-American friendship." The players range in age from 9 to 16 and will compete against Chinese schools and youth league teams. With a total of 170 persons, including coaches and parent escorts as well as players, the "friends through soccer" delegation will be one of the largest delegations the $H9 TV UVl HUHOKM Of buy it the fecMry mt lIXH Compare: Avcflobla for Isnsnetlbfe Delivery Lapp Selactisn ot DIESELS, 6 mi -8-6-4 Eiifta Financing At Below Current Prlmo Bate list tiis January Price Increase On Most Cars In Stock Boy or Lease Direct Nowl Hi I (213) ISlB vSaTGGH (7U) TNf nCTUM-EMl clarity and wttninaie on mama, much at, waanacN, mmumo eneen 1 a THE tlECTIIOMCS- W0 KHM Mate MID automatic una tunma AH chaimala liom 2 10 wltn caMa. The Trojans are ineligible to compete in the Pacific 10 and NCAA meets this year because of rules violations. Sanford, a senior, said he is the only USC track athlete who plans to redshirt. In other events, Larry Myricks, the world indoor record holder in the long jump at 27-6, leaped 26-10 to win and establish a meet record; USC's Bill Green, competing unattached, won the 500 in 57.1; UCLA's Anthony Curran won the pole vault with a career best of 17-8V4, and Denean Howard of Kennedy High School set a national high school record of 1:04.1 in winning the women's 500.

Pro Bowl Is a Good Test for Cromwell By KEN PETERS Associated Press HONOLULU-Nolan Cromwell, emerging" as one of the NFL's finest defensive backs, figures he will add greatly to his football education Sunday. "I think experience is making me better, and facing all those great AFC players at one time will be a great experience," said the Rams' Cromwell, who will be making his first Pro Bowl appearance.

"With Brian Sipe and Dan Fouts at quarterback, receivers like John Jefferson and Stanley Morgan, and runners like Earl Campbell and Joe Cribbs, it's really a test for a defensive player." Cromwell, a four-year NFL veteran out of Kansas, led the NFC in interceptions with eight this season and was second on the Rams in tackles with 101. He downplayed both statistics, however, saying, "I was fortunate I had some passes thrown right to me, and on the tackles, I just get more opportunities from my position." Cromwell said his philosophy of playing in the secondary is one of intimidation, but not in the sense of trying to maim opposing receivers. "I think you intimidate a receiver most by not letting him catch the football, or by getting the interception," he explained. "You go for the ball, not the receiver. "Sure, you and the ball and the receiver sometimes wind up in the same place at the same time and there's a collision, but that doesn't mean you're trying to hurt him." Cromwell was asked if the Rams, dethroned as NFC West champions by Atlanta this season after seven consecutive titles, might be on the downslide.

"No, I think we've got the players to beat anybody," he replied. direct leases, 60 months Atari: Personal computer systems that grow with you. Continued from First Page indoor season because of an injury, said he's determined to repeat his accomplishments of 1979, when he set three world indoor records. For sure, he looked sharp and smooth in both the 50- and 60-yard hurdles.

"I'm physically and mentally stronger now," said Nehemiah, the outdoor world record holder at 13.00 in the 110-meter hurdles. "Last year I sat back and watched Greg Foster and Dedy Cooper win indoorsand I did nothing." Nehemiah said that he predicted a world record at 50 yards because the previous record of 6.04 held by him was "shabby." He said that he didn't have as much incentive in the second race at 60 yards because Foster, the former Bruin and his perennial rival didn't compete. Foster had problems anticipating the gun in the 50-yard race, got off to a slow start and finished fifth. Looks to the Future Nehemiah, who'll be 22 in March, is disappointed that he couldn't compete in the Moscow Olympics because of the boycott (he was almost a cinch to win a gold medal) but not too upset. He figures he'll be around for the next two Olympics.

In the short sprints, Evelyn Ash-ford won the women's 60, blasting by Alice Brown at 50 yards after a poor start and USC's James Sanford, competing unattached, looked exceptionally strong in winning the men's 60. Ashford set a meet record of 6.66 seconds, but her poor start prevented her from breaking the American record of 6.65 she set last week. Sanford was strong from start to gun in winning in the meet record time of 6.08. "I think I would have gone under six seconds if I hadn't stumbled at the start and wobbled for about 15 yards," he said. Sanford was the world's hottest sprinter for a while last season until he pulled a hamstring muscle in the finals of the NCAA 200 meters at Austin.

ULFB ma ii USC: Miller Dropped From the Team WMM "We came here expecting at least a split," Morrison said. But the sure win was supposed to have come ggainst Oregon, which defeated an uninspired Trojan team, 74-67, Thursday.

Without Miller, any upset of Oregon State (16-0, 8-0 the Pac-10) now seems far fetched. The Beavers are led by center Steve Johnson and the Trojans 10-7, 5-3) are without anyone to guard him. Barry Brooks, who was dropped from the starting lineup to make room for Dwight Anderson, will return today. He'll play at forward while Maurice Williams probably will move to Miller's position as Continued from First Page points and 6.6 rebounds when suspended. His 1,246 career points rank fourth on the USC list.

At 6-8 and 230 pounds, he provided most of the bulk for the smallish Trojans. "This is all we need," Morrison said of Miller's suspension. The Trojans had come to Oregon with hopes high. They had won four of their previous five games and seemed to be rounding into their best form this season. With transfer Dwight Anderson joining the team last Monday, the Trojans were looking forward to an opportunity to play Oregon State.

By CHRIS BAKER, Times Staff Writer The Aztecs, who've had four home stadiums in seven years, arc moving from the Rose Bowl to the Coliseum, where they played in 1977. The club said Friday it has signed a three-year contract to play 20 games a year at the Coliseum. "We never should have left the Coliseum," Aztecs President Danny Villanueva said. "I think this is where we should have been all the time. I can't foresee us ever leaving the Coliseum." The Aztecs played their first season (1974) at East Ixs Angeles College, spent two years at El Camino College, played a year at the Coliseum, and moved to the Rose Bowl in 1978.

The club averaged 9,960 in its first season in Pasadena, 14,603 in 1979 and 12,050 last year. The Aztecs were 16th in home attendance in the North American Soccer League in 1980. The Soccer Bowl champion New York Cosmos led with an average of 42,805. Attendance Increase Predicted Aztecs General Manager Marvin Milkes predicted that the club will average 4,000 to 5,000 more fans per game this year. The average was 9,004 in 1977.

"I don't think anything was wrong with the Rose Bowl," Milkes said. "1 just feel the Coliseum is more convenient for our fans." "I think you'll see a dramatic increase in attendance," Villanueva said. "We had to get into L.A. and become more centralized. The Coliseum is more convenient for our fans in the South Bay, Long Beach, West and East Los Angeles." July 4 Date Lost The Aztecs' 1980 attendance average was boosted by crowds in excess of 30,000 for a game against the New York Cosmos and another against the Washington Diplomats July 4.

The club will play the Cosmos in New York this year and won't play on July 4. However, it will have five Sunday games this year after playing all night games last season. stuff 01? less Private storage spaces lor rent by the month. '81 SL ft SLC'S Ready for Immediate delivery!
