Coa Atifletea 3ftraes Aug. 10. isso-Part IV 13 gave him a weekly television show on the Faith Network. "He's very Fellini-esque," Murian said of Scott: "the apparent madness, out of which genius emerges. He is, on the surface, an abrasive personality and the prophetic, cutting edge of his voice angers people.

He says things that drive me up the wall at times." In his conversation with The Times, Scott generally was responsive, but he withheld information on what some Scott watchers see as the most important new move he has made in the last two years. It perhaps signals his own plans for his future. In June of last year, Scott quietly incorporated in Phoenix the Gene Scott Evangelistic an entirely new corporate entity. The papers filed in Arizona list Scott, his father and none other than Susanna Decin Footitt the woman who has both accused Scott of thievery and wrongdoing and sworn he is honest as its directors. The articles of incorporation of the nonprofit association say its purposes are to operate a church, Sunday school, missionary program and to undertake radio, television, audiovisual and print-media projects to advance "the ministry of Dr.

Gene Scott." Scott's attorneys, who contended they are unaware of Scott's intentions for the new corporation, speculated that he intends to use the association as a place to transfer money and other assets from Faith Center if state government agencies try to move in again. The association might also serve as an umbrella corporation over larger, more national projects by Scott. It was late morning and Scott was in his second meeting of the day, in the dining room of the Pasadena Hilton. The night before, the "Festival of Faith" had turned into a circus. It began when a ministerial intern Please Turn to Page 14, Col.

In that sworn statement, Footitt portrays Scott as a man who "never received any kind of money from anyone in my presence. There has not ever been even a thought of any self-dealing or fraud by Dr. Scott. He is very ethical as a minister and as a businessman." Moreover, sources close to the case say investigators themselves have begun to question the credibility of one of the three original disgruntled Faith Center personnel.

Attorney general's investigators said they never have presented any evidence against Scott to a grand jury and don't plan to at least not soon, because Scott has politically bamboozled Deukmejian. 'Everything Checked Out' Scott announced that while he never would let a government agency look at the books of the Faith Center-Wescott conglomerate, he would allow pentecostal ministers to do so and an Assemblies of God preacher from Riverside, Richard Murian, accepted the offer. Murian said he simply appeared at Faith Center one day and said he wanted to see the books. "My initial impression (of Scott) was that this guy is the smoothest con man I've ever seen," Murian said. Though Murian is not a trained accountant and admitted that he was not really qualified to render a sophisticated opinion on the complicated records he was shown he said he picked specific projects at random and that "everything checked out with what he had said on television." Murian, who said he had previously detested Scott, swung over to his support.

Murian quickly paid a price for his allegiance. His Riverside congregation uncomfortable with Scott's acerbic manner forced Murian to resign as pastor. Scott put him on salary $400 a week, Murian said and 0 0 PPIk '4L TZTZJ ft fljjb 4 1 VI was ON THE SET Gene Scott gestures during a broadcast in burl -furnished set he later found boring and ordered changed by his aides to a more austere, plain look.
