Elizabeth Johnson, owner and operator of Trans-Western Helicopters Scappoose, has been named chair of the Tom McCaU lectureship committee at Oregon State University, according to an OSU press release. She succeeds the outgoing chair, retired state Supreme Court Justice Betty Roberts. The committee focuses on selecting speakers and raising funds for the Governor Tom McCall Memorial Lectureship in Public Affairs at OSU. The lectureship is designed to promote the ideals and values espoused by McCaU, and to bring to campus notable people in Journalism and public affairs. The late governor taught in OSV'n College of Liberal Arts in Johnson earned a law degree at Lewis and Clark College's Northwestern School of Law in Portland, but became fascinated by flying and opened her own helicopter maintenance business in 1877.

Today her company flies passengers ail around the West Coast, and employs 17 pilots, mechanics and staff. Recent McCall lecturers have Included Oregon Gov. Barbara Roberts, 1991; ABC News director Chuck Walker, 1990; former Gov. Robert Straub. 1389; and J.W.

She was active with her family.
