Sir: I have noticed in the daily papers every now and then something about the health board and the city cautioning the people to fight mosquitoes, clean up premises, to sweep the sidewalks before 8 a.

and even going so far as to fine citizens not obeying laws. Now the above is very good and should be done, but how abont the city doing the same? Docs not the health board consider it more dangerous to health to sweep the streets at night without first sprinkling, which I notice happens on avenue about 9 o'clock every night, and does Dr. Barnitz consider it healthy for the street cleaners to sweep the gutters during tile day while they are as dry as a bone aud fdi the faces of passersby with 'filth and dust; besides, tins germ filth accumulates on the sidewalks (this is in the business center). Then it is impossible to sweep same until the next morning. Jn line meantime this is blown into the stores and settles on the goods.

Now if the eity wants to pass laws they should set a good example. Let them have the sprinklers going all day if necessary; also nights, and more so Sundays, which day seems most neglected. I am not a kicker, but think it quite amusing when the city passes laws that it does not observe. AN OBSERVING CITIZEN. 4 DR.
