President Judy Billings called the meeting'to The pledges were given by Kim Pearce and Linda Pearce.

Devorie Miller called the roll and June Elkins gave a treasury report. Elections were held for new officers. Bjlly Billings is president, Linda Pearce, vice president, Kim Rhodes, secretary, Sheila Trappman, treasure, and Judy Billings, reporter. June Elkins and Kelly Fleming were elected as song leaders, Mike Elkins and Pat Barup, recreation leaders, Devorie Miller and Evelyn Marquez, council delegates and David Moon, refreshment chairman. Members were reminded of the Award Banquet Nov.

6 at the Cobre High Cafeteria in Bayard. Linda Pearce reported that eleven members attended the Calvery Baptist Church as a club. They were June Elkins, Cliff Elkins, Moon, Kenny Pearce, Linda Pearce, Devorie Leann Miller, Sheila Trapp a Jackie Byers and Cheryl Lutz. A bake sale scheduled forNov 19 in front of thephelps Dodge Dec. 6 is the date for the Christmas party.

The party committee includes: June Elkins, Mike Elkins, 1 Kim Rhodes and Linda Pearce. Theclub agreed to meet with members of the Round-Up 4-H club Nov. 29 to decorate the 4-H building for all club parties. State Rep. Murry Ryan was a guest speakerat the meeting.

He gave the group a brief history of the N.M. Legislature. Ryan also gave the club suggestions for the best times to visit the Capitol Building in Santa Fe. The club wishes to thank Rep. Two representatives of the club spoke on radio programs about 4-H Week. At the end of the week members attended church together. For community projects the club made a large circus wall hanging from burlap and felt for theCarrieTingley Hospital in or Consequences. Another wall donated to Hillcrest General Hospital on Mar. 26.

Members participated in the annual box supper. For a Bicentennial clean-up project the Burro Mountain Club met with members of the White Signal Club and picked Thank You (Muchas Gracias) My Sincere Thank You for your votes of confidence during the election. A. C. (Chon) Monzano The Oct.

16, 4-H Council meeting was called to order at 9:45 a.m. by Debbie Frost, president. Pledges were lead. The roll called and the minutes of the previous meeting were read by Kim Pearce, secretary. Committee reports were given.

Mrs. Moon gave a report on the Constitution and By-Laws meeting. The council moved, seconded and passed the ammendments to the Constitution and By-Laws. Mark Lindley gave a report on the County Elimination Contests held in June. David Moon gave a report on the Achievment Day held in September.

Jon Strange gave a report on the New Mexico State Fair held in September. Michael Lindley gave a report an the 4-H Building exhibits at the County Fair while Rhonda Baird gave a report on the animal exhibits held in October. David Salars gave a report on the County Fair Food Auction. $81 brought in from the auction. A committee was set to decide how the cake auction will be run in the future years.

Discussion of the National Awards Banquet was held. The council decided on Nov. 6 as the date for the potluck supper. The Junior Leader's will be helping in the banquet year. A committee of five people was set up to decide on the meal to be served at the bancuet.

Discussion of registration was held. The theme for the banquet will be "4-H Room to Grow." Bruce Hinrichs is in charge of contacting the radio stations for the purpose of asking permission of the station for 4- Her's to talk on the radio during 4-H week. 4-H week this year is Oct. 31 through Nov. 6.

Pat Webster suggested hav- 'ing a traveling trophy for the Window Display Contest which is during 4-H Week. The council discussed the possibility if having a trophy case built for the county 4-H; trophies, and it was passed. Discussion of the record books and the cleaning up the 4-H building followed. The leader Form Training Course to be held in Seattle Washington was discussed. The meeting adjourned at noon.

The organizational leaders, a emphasized cooperation, responsibility and team-work. The first and second year members held sessions to do required work.

First year members learned responsibilities of horsemanship and how to pack. The second year members studied first aid, outdoor cook- ing and reviewed packing. Second year members lunches for the group. The club went on an night trip pack tp'the "Sapio," and iri August Packrats went on a six day pack trip in the Gila W.ilder- ness. The club members believe they learned to work as a team and experienced cooperation and responsibility.

Representing theclub at the County Eliminations were: Susan Lambeth and Debby Rice, junior leaders Shawna Kartchner, K'Dawn Means, Annette Rice, Carolyn Monzingo, Kim-Massey, Jean Walker and Amy Gonzales, of the i review. Monte Burns, Casey Lewis, Mark Rice, Steve and Johnny Strange, Shad Burns, Kevin McCauley, and Timmy Lambeth entered livestock and horse-judging competition. Mtmbers attending District Eliminations were Annette Rice, Shawna Kartchner, and K'Dawn Meatos.

The Midi Livestock Team receiving third place included: Monte Burns, Mark Rice, and Casey Lewis. Receiving first place Chad Kevin McCauley, and Steve Strange. At the Extension Fair, club members entered clothing and leather categories. Those attendwg the State Fair were: JeairWalker and Shawna Kartchner, in clothing competition, and Timmy Lambeth, in leather competition. Members entering the Grant Singcrhas been making high quality swing machines for 126ycars.

SEW SAVE Lnyaway Now For Christmas SILVER SEWING CENTER- 107 W. Btoodway County Fair were: Amy Gonzales, Annette Rice, Kim Massey, Shawna Kartchner, Carolyn Monzingo, Jean Walker, a Means and Susan Lambeth. Also competing were: Jonny and Mike Strange, Christine and Pattie Wood, Kim and Travis Massey, Amy Gonzales and Timmy and Susan Lambeth. Those selling livestock i Sandi and Lori Scheas, Kim and Travis Massey, Jonny and Mike Strange, Monte and Chad Burns, arid Brenda Reed. Timmy Larn- beth entered the rabbit sweepstakes and received third place.

During the summer the club had a family cook-out at the Valley Center and a swimming party at the Bayard pool. In October they had an "end the year" party and dance. Out-going officers for the year are: Susan Lambeth, president, Larry Dominguez, vice president, Christirte Wood, secretary, Kim Massey, reporter, and Timmy and Strange, council delegatesi During the Nov. 8 meeting, new officers will be elected, i The year has been a busy one for the members of the San Juan club. There were new members, leaders, projects, and activities.

To start out the-year, the club held its annual Christmas iparty, which'consisted of a dinner, presentation of completion pins; and the installation of new officers. There were many commun- titv oroiects for the Mimbres area. The most important of these was the forming of the Mimbres Bicentennial Fire Districts. This project has become a reality, and each member is proud of his effort; they did all the work from canvassing and petitioning, to community meetings. There was also a rabies clinic, and a Hunters Safty Clinic.

In addition to participating in the county-wide highway clean-up, the club held two clean-ups of their own. A little 'money was made from the aluminum, and each member is more consciencious of littering now. As a bicentennial project, the club lowers and raises the U.S. a at the i Masonic Lodge everyday. They also received a US flag from Harold Runnels.

The group enjoyed several talks and programs. Janice i gave a slide show on Reids Peak; Tom and Mary Patterson gave a slide show and talk on National Fourth Congress; and Mr. Howard Harlin presented a Health and Safty program. San Juan also participated in several fun activities: a tour of an artifact collection, tour of two mu seum nature walks, dances, and participation as a group in the July 4 parade. They also particiapted in County El imination (at which they were in charge of decorations for the dress review) District contests, and the Clif-Gila fair.

San Juan 4-H Club would like to thank all those who sup- helped, and took a Party Games sponsored by Santa Rita Casino Club Saturday, Nov. 6th 7:00 P.M. The year has been a busy, but fun and rewarding one, enjoyed by all, and looked forward to again next year. 4-H Round Up Club HK Riders 4-H Club The HK Riders 4-H Club started out the year with a potluck dinner.

The members had a gymkhana to help Howard Gobble go to Washington for the Citizenship Short Mr.

Leon Pearce directed thesquaredanceonhorseback which was performed at the July 4 Rodeo. Mr. Webster and Mr. Carter helped organize gymkhanas. Mr.

Huges and Mr. Abercrombie helped plan a daylong trail ride and overnight trail ride. Mr. Bob Shelley led the club on the overnight trail ride. The community project was to fix and paint playground equipment at the Special School.

The club participated in the National 4-H Week by going to church in a group on 4-H Sunday arid window display. HK Riders sent a junior and senior team to the District HorseshbwinDemingand then to the State Horseshow. The senior team included Robin Kirnberly, Brett Webster, Howard Gobble, and Gary Littleton. On the junior team were: -Kally Carter, Lpinell Abercjro)nbie Hughes and Rhonda Baird. 1 The, club' members are pleased 'to by doing" this year.

There were 17 present with Mrs. Betty a a new organizational leader. The Annual 4-H Recognition and Awards Banquet was discussed and plans made for each club family to furnish two cakes for the dinner.

Deenie Silva reported on the club's window exhibit in the Maxwell House Department Store and expressed appreciation to Mr. and Mrs. Curtis Maxwell for their cooperation. Dale Salars told of visiting the adopted grandparents at the Pleasant View Rest Home and distributing Halloween treats to them. going to Bobby Salars; vice president, Susan Head; secret- a a Laney; a Salars, treasurer; David Salars, reporter; Dale Salars, song leader and Randy Salars, recreation chairman.

These officers were installed by the retiring president, Randy Salars. A meeting date for all project leaders set, and plans were made to decorate the 4-H building for Christmas. The next club meeting will be Nov. 16 at 7 p.m. in the 4-H building.
