Now at the newly owned and operated Continental Club-Sunday, Monday and Tuesday dancing with the Creators, complete with Go Go Girls.

Coming Wednesday night at the Skyline Ballroom popular country and western star GEORGE JONES and the Jones Boys. Coming Thursday to Municipal Auditorium the great jazz tenorman STAN GETZ and his Quartet. The show is included on the Cultural Entertainment Committee's season concert bill. That "Last Nail" party for the Embassy Room section of Wilbur Clark's new Crest Hotel came off with a big bang, but the last nail hasn't quite been driven yet. Unofficial opening for Club Seville js now set for Dec, 15, with the official grand opening slated for shortly after the first of the year.

Representatives from practically all the news media were on hand (including the New York Times) as well as numerous local "YIP's." Music for Monday's party was furnished by the JIMMY GROYE Orchestra. It was my first hearing of the group since they left Club Caravan, and the band showed a real swinging ability that has largely been covered up in the restraining atmosphere of night club and show band work. More coming on who made the scene later this week. OVER THE WEEKEND: The Bachelor's Ball and presentation of debutantes turned out to lx a mammoth affair with not two, but three bands providing the musical entertainment. Unfortunately, the ED GERLACK Band (as previously reported in this column) was not one of the bands booked for the party.

Rather, the PHIL GREY Orchestra, also out of Houston, occupied one ballroom while the DAVE WILLIAMS Combo played the other. At 1 a.m. (Sunday morning) when the two bands knocked off, a third band made the scene and played until 5 a.m. This as a rock 'n' roll group called the Chevelles. Dancing with the rock group were LESLIE REID and MAGGIE COWART a pair of swingers from the Swingers A Go Go Club who danced at the after-hours party after their own club job was completed.

Also over the weekend an unusual scene at the New Orleans Club Sunday night. Sitting in the house Dixieland group, The Fire Plug Five, were SAM DUNAVANT, TARY OWENS and POWELL ST. JOHN. Owens played kazoo and guitar, while St. John wailed on harmonica and a vocal.

This combination, along with regular string bass and tuba player JAY DUNNAHOO's doubled solos on violin, gave the band an opportunity to experiment with some really old-style blues. Last weekend was the band's last Sunday night engagement at the club. After a week lay-off. the Fire Plug Five will resume sessions at the New Orleans Club on Wednesday nights. 4 not be attributed to program innovation.

Of the seven shows the two-week period that ended Nov. 21, gave CBS an average evening rating of 20.2, the National Broadcasting Company 19.8 and ABC 16.4.
