WHAT FOLLOWED WAS a fund-raising drive that, to the surprise of just about everyone, appears to have succeeded. Thanks in large part to a handful of wealthy and publicity-hungry show business types, the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce has now almost reached its ter's collapse of the "0." Although some saw the ensuing "HOLLYWOD" as fitting "Now the sign is as tacky as the rest of Hollywood," said one sour hillside others were galvanized into action.
