Cassidy, 46, the towering thespian perhaps best known for his portrayal Lurch, the lumbering, bumbling utler in The Addams Family horror-comedy television series of the mid 1960s, died Jan.

"They sent him home, then complications set in and he went back to the hospital and he died." Cassidy had told interviewers he did not want to be remembered for his role in The Addams Family or to be typecast as a villain, but he was realistic about the limitations his 6-foot, 8-inch frame presented. "Obviously, I physically wouldn't fit playing a CPA but I don't mind as long as I can work," he once told a Times interviewer.

"It doesn't matter if you're big and tall or ugly or pretty. Deep inside, every actor wants to play Hamlet at least I hope he does, because that's the craft. Crawling into someone's skin is what acting is all about." His deep, expressive voice gave Cassidy his start in radio and he soon moved on to television and movies. Among his more recent television roles were those of Bigfoot in the series The Six Million Dollar Man, and Goliath in the series Stories From the Bible. your budget now, but later everything looks more prosperous for you.

Olympic Committee lo Be Appointed Friday BY KENNETH REICH TUnn IHimcai Wrttw Under not-so-gentle prodding by International Olympic Committee Executive Director Monique Berlioux, 1984 Olympic organizers here announced Tuesday they will name the full Los Angeles Olympic Organizing Committee this Friday. It is expected to have 60 members.

Meanwhile, Mayor Bradley spoke with Mme. Berlioux by telephone and declared that she told him that as long as the organizing committee was named and a few other legal technicalities taken care of, there was no need for him to join a Los Angeles delegation to the IOC executive board meeting in Lausanne Switzerland, next week. Bradley, whose trips to Africa and Hawaii since New Year's have drawn some criticism, said with evident relief that accordingly he will not go to Lausanne. He said he had told Mme. Berlioux her requests will be complied with.

Going to Lausanne for what should now be mainly a get-acquainted meeting that may heighten the prestige of local organizers with the IOC will be the organizers' temporary chairman, John C. Argue, and two other members, Howard P. Allen and Rodney W. Rood. As the organizers have been encountering great difficulty in finding the prestigious Olympic chairman they wanted, the trip may increase the chances that the permanent chairmanship will go to Argue, despite his disclaimer of interest.

Argue has had his conflicts with the IOC, but there are few persons involved in the Los Angeles Olympic effort who have not, and as time goes on he is emerging, by virtue of experience and temperament, as a strong compromise choice for chairman provided no famous person can be found. Just this week, Argue's longtime secretary, Jeanne D'Amico, who has also had long experience in the effort to bring the Olympics to the city, became the first permanent paid 1984 Olympics employe. Argue said Tuesday that the only last-minute legal obstacles to forming the organizing committee have to do with the United States Olympic Committee and its continued unwillingness to put into writing an agreement made last month. But it is possible to go ahead and name the committee even without fully concluding the matter with the USOC, which reportedly has also been coming under fire from IOC leaders for its obstinance. He wrote the screenplay for the 1973 film, "The Harrad Experiment." Cassidy also was the voice of the Hulk in the hit television series The Incredible Hulk, Shafer said. Private funeral services were held at Forest Lawn Memorial-Park, Hollywood Hills, last Friday. Cassidy's body was cremated. He leaves a son, Sean, and a daughter, Cameron, both of Woodland Hills; his mother, Mrs. Emily Cassidy of Philippi, W.

But, more practically, local officials fear that being included in a greater Los Angeles area statistically could mean the loss of federal and state funding. In an editorial headlined "We're no part of L.A.," the San Bernardino Sun said, "Los Angeles has one thing in common with New York. It's a nice place to visit. But who'd want to live there?" Rainbow Computing, Inc 10723 White Oak Avenue SAN BERNARDINO Los Angeles is a nice place to visit, but who'd want to live there or, for that matter, be lumped statistically with that "octopus of a megapolis?" Some version of that question is being asked by alarmed politicians and incensed editorial writers here in the Inland Empire over a proposal of the Office of Federal Statistical Policy. That seemingly noncontroversial unit of the U.S. Department of Commerce proposes to lump San Bernardino and Riverside counties with Los Angeles, Orange and Ventura counties in a Consolidated Metropolitan Statistical Area. But the idea is as popular here as double-digit inflation. If necessary, San Bernardino County supervisors plan to send one of their colleagues to Washington for a Friday hearing to as Supervisor Dennis Hansberger said "stand on our hind legs and be counted." "That means buyers are not going to pay $6 for a carton that will be offered for $3 tomorrow morning, if the workers return to their jobs." The growers have offered annual increases of 7 in wages and fringe benefits, in line, they said, with President Carter's wage-price guidelines. But agricultural prices are exempt from the guidelines, and if they were included, the growers would have been badly hurt, since a carton of lettuce was wholesaling at up to $15 a carton a few weeks ago. Two Black Candidates Lead Field for School Board Seat Attorney Maxine Thomas and businessman Ernest Shell, both black, have emerged as leading candidates for appointment to fill a vacancy on the Los Angeles City Board of Education, sources said Tuesday. Their names surfaced after black leaders met Monday with board member Phillip Bardos in an attempt to agree on a compromise candidate and break a five-week deadlock over the appointment.

John Mack of the Black Leadership Coalition and Bardos, whose vote is the key to breaking the stalemate, said they are optimistic a compromise can be reached by next Monday's board meeting.
