Single filing for; Tax Exemptions Property owners here no longer will have, to file for homeowner tax exemption each year unless they become ineligible. The city assessor's office announced that only in cases of error, change in exemption or disqualification should the notices be returned to the city. Until a recent change in state law, forms had to be filed annually. Pasadena assesses city taxes separately, unlike other taxing agen- cies which use the county assessors office. The same policy doing away with annual filing of exemptions also has been adopted by the county assessor's office.

EL MONTE NAZIS Mar. 13, 1975- tl "We have not attempted to get nd; of anybody," Nicklin said. "We expec them (the Nazis) to comply with the Continued from First Page ties in the city of El Monte." He was accompanied by, eight men and a young boy in uniform; a woman and a small girl If the city continues "to harass us legally," Stewart told the council, "we're going to hold all of our activities here. And I mean all of them." i "I don't recall any agreement," said Councilman Sidney Kading. Stewart repeated his threat, first issued in a letter dated March 2, to have storm troopers go "shopping in uniform inside every business establishment in El Monte, "People don't have to shop in El Monte, they can go elsewhere." Stewart refused to answer any of the coucilmen's questions.

"I'm not here to play 20 questions," he replied to an inquiry by Mayor Art Salcido. "Good night." With that, Stewart clicked his heels and walked out of the council chambers. He was followed by the other members of his party. "Wait," Salcido called. "They're trash" muttered Kading.

"Let them go." "They're a detriment to the entire city," said Councilman Jack Crippen. "I think we should use every means and tool available to us to get them out of town." Crippen's remark drew applause from the overflow audience, most of whom iiad come to ask the city for school crossing guards rather than to see the Nazis. (The council appointed a committee to. investigate funding for the crossing guards.) Five San Gabriel Valley city councils have elected new mayors, two of them Mexican-Americans, the first to be chosen in their communities. In Monterey Park, Matthew (Marty) Martinez became the city's chief executive after only one year on the council, with Councilman George Westphaln named mayor pro-tern.

Art Salcido, a council member for seven years, became mayor of El Monte, with former mayor Sid Rating stepping down to vice-mayor. Both Salcido and Martinez were the first Spanish-surnamed persons elected to their city councils. In Rosemead, Mayor Paul S. Taylor was reelected for a second term, and Councilwoman Roberta Trujillo be-, came mayor pro-tern after only one-year on the council. Duarte named as mayor attorney James Coughlin, a council member for seven years.

Carl Falkenborg, who was appointed last fall to fill a council seat when Kurt Hahn resigned, will be vice mayor. In West Covina, seven-year council veteran Kenneth Chappell began his third nonconsecutive term as mayor with one-year Councilman Nevin' Browne mayor pro-tern. law just like anybody else.
