"Tests that we have conducted at the university make it hard to understand why these old instruments command such a high price," he declared.

"Certainly the listener receives very little benefit from expensive old violins of famous manufacture, over that he would get from listening to the same artist play on any modern violin which would cost about $100," Dr. Saunders said in an address before the American Acoustical Society here. There is no moral reason why revolutionaries should force these taxes upon the workers and savers of the State in order to pay for a special election.

We need a lot of education right here in Southern California on the fundamentals of economics, government and religion." "America must remain an is ization made this amazing statement "Los Angeles County is the LARGEST PRODUCER of fluid milk of any County in the United States, yet the consumption of milk in Los Angeles is below par. Los An-, geles docs not consume enough milk for its own good." Surely this is a paradox. Within the very borders of the county whose cows yield more milk than those of any other community, is the fastest-growing city in the country yet this is "below par," in its consumption of the healthiest of all foods'. Again I ask: "What must the cows think of you?" Well, maybe the cows will have to get busier than ever, if the milk producers and distributors of this community soon start their frequently discussed co-operative campaign of informational advertising in the newspapers. The producers of San Francisco's milk supply believed the folks in the Bay City ought to be more milk conscious.

For two years they have sponsored an intensive campaign of educational advertising in the newspapers. Say some of the headlines: "Drink milk for 30 days feel the difference," "Have you had YOUR two glasses of milk today?" "For women who do not want to look their age," "She's losing her looks trying to reduce," "Why you need milk daily." And then follows real reason-why copy that carries home conviction in every line. Meaning of Prayer Told by Minister "Many persons speak of prayer as though it were a sort of slot-machine performance in which one inserts a request and may expect to receive an immediate answer," said Dr. Herbert Booth Smith yesterday at the Imman-uel Presbyterian Church.

"That is the pagan but not the Christian view of prayer, which contains many elements besides begging. It includes adoration, confession, praise and communion, intercession and consecration. Our Catechism defines prayer thus.
