Work has been completed on the construction of 7.18 miles of concrete 18 feet ip width, on Traffic Route 49, between Elkland and Lawrenceville, and the road will be opened to traffic about July 29, James Lyall Stuart, Secretary of the Pennsylvania Department of Highways, announced last week. Approaches to the bridge will involve the construction of .03 miles of concrete pavement, IS feet in width.

A temporary bridge will carry traffic during construction. The contract will amount to $33,532.90 and the contractor is the Central Pennsylvania Company of St Mary's, Pa. The project when completed will close the last gap of pavement between Elkland and Lawreneeville. Work has been started on the contract for 2.12 miles of bituminous surface treated macadam road on Traffic Route 242 immediately east of Sunbury. The pro- iect is part of a plan for the completion of an auxiliary road between Shamokin and Sunbury, designed to relieve traffic on U.
