Hospital Aide Group to Install New Officers Will Be Seated Friday in Santa Monica BY JESSIE JEAN MARSH West Side organizations are starting 1954 with renewed energy and exciting plans all leading to their goal of philanthropic assistance. The Women's Auxiliary the Santa Monica Hospital one of the few West Side groups who elect and install new officers with the new year instead of in June. They are also celebrating the installation of a new Economy Cottage thrift shop. Officers Listed Mrs. Chester Hoover of Santa Monica, newly elected president, will be installed Friday at 1:30 p.m.

The meeting, an important milestone in the auxiliary, will be held in the staff of the Santa Monica Hospital, 1250 16th St. Tea will be served during a social hour. Mrs. Hoover's staff of officers and chairmen are Mmes. Fred Kirby, Robert A.

Smithson, Fernando Morales, Sherman Strand, Carl Lenell and Cyril Mitchell. Also Mmes. Merle Hamren, Preston McClelland, John E. Graham, and Misses Mabel Hertsgard and Lillian Gulberson. Home Converted Also on the staff board are Mmes.

Fred Noel, Monrad Aaberg, Harry Press and G. R. Seal who is chairman of surgical dressings. This group meets weekly to roll bandages. Other staff officers are Mmes.

Garland Yarrow, George Chown (hospitality), Charles Krueger and Richard Smith. The Economy Cottage is a former home at 1503 Arizona converted into an attractive shop. It is open from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. each Monday for shoppers, and also for contributors of stock for the shop.

Men's and women's clothing as well as children's, costume jewelry and household necessities are included in the stock. Mmes. Richard Smith and Theodore Earle are Economy Cot- tage chairmen. Experiment Thrives The need for more funds for the children's section of the Santa Monica Hospital Clinic, the Women's Auxiliary responsibility, prompted the cottage experiment which has thrived according to the sponsors. The 1953 August membership tea at which members were usked to bring bundles for the cottage was its beginning.

The cottage opened Sept, 1, and has its own board who, with Mmes. Smith and Earle, are Mmes. Webster Baer, Charles Cleeton, Robert Baber, Albert Jung and Walter Erion. National BPW Group Helps March of Dimes Members of the National Business and Professional Women's Club of Los Angeles addressed 27,000 envelopes for forthcoming March of Dimes. They also collected numerous toys for the den at fornia Babies' and Children's Hospital.
