Glenn James, 78, professor emeritus of mathematics at UCLA and editor of Peace Digest in the San Fernando valley prior to World War II, will be conducted today in Arroyo Grande. Dr. James, who died Sat urday in Arroyo Grande, moved there a year ago from Pacoima. He joined UCLA in 1922 ana retired in 1949. He had taught mathematics at Purdue University and Carnegie Institute of Technology.

WESTERN WEATHER SUMMARY The Northeast Pacific was dominated by a huge high pressure area.

Center of the high with 1035 millibars was located about 1,400 miles west of the Oregon Coast, but the high covered the Pacific from the latitude of Bala California north to the Gulf of Alaska and from the Pacific Coast west to the 160th meridian. Barometric pressures became lower over the Great Basin Region in advance of a weather front moving east into Montana, Idaho and Northwestern Nevada. The front extended out over the California Coast near Pt. Reyes. The front is having little effect on weather along the coast except to bring In a return of coastal fog or low clouds as it approaches.

Needham, who died Friday, lived in Vista. As a member of the board of directors of the Wycliffe Bible Translators for eight years, Mr. Needham traveled extensively and opened missionary agricul ture centers in the jungles of Peru, Ecuador, Mexico, the Phllino nes and New uumea. He also was a member of the board of directors of the Union Rescue Mission and the Gospel Recordings, both in Los Ange les. Mr.

Laater, 65,. was not identified until Tuesday. Miss Laster, 2108 20th was a member of the Seventh-daj A i a Church in Long Beach. She was soloist at the Glendale Seventh-day Adventist Church and many other had sung churches Southern California. Miss Laster taught music last year at Brooklyn Col lege and had planned to re turn there this fall.

She was a music teacher with the city elementary schools in Wilmington for two years before that. Philharmonic Debut Miss Laster made her de but in a Philharmonic Audi torium recital in 1950. She was first-prize winner in the National Assn. of Negro Singers contest as well as the 1950 UCLA Young Art ist Auditions. She appeared in 1953 in the Hollywood Bowl before launching a concert tour of the Orient, Europe, South America and the Caribbean, Funeral services are pend ing at the Utter-McKinley Broadway Mortuary.
