'SECOND WOMAN' ABSORBING MYSTERY 'BULLFIGHTER HOLDS OVER "Bullfighter and the Lady," which costars Robert Stack. Joy Page and Gilbert Roland, begins a second week today on the screens of Paramount Hollywood and Downtown Theaters. The Downtown also holds over "Lost Planet Airmen." Filmed in and around Mexico City, "Bullfighter and the Lady" boasts a cast including 14 of Mexico's fa-: mous matadors. Gala Cinema Event Slated Invitational premiere of "Go for Broke!" will be held next Wednesday night at the Egyptian Theater. Written and directed by Robert Pirosh and produced by Dors Schary as a successor to "Battleground," the new film details the exploits of the 442nd Regimental Combat Team, a unit composed of Nisei (Americans of Japanese ancestry) volunteers and the most-decorated group of fighting men of World War II.

Van' Johnson plays the hardbitten young lieutenant who trains and leads the Nisei. In addition to her theater engagements she will have a concert series, which, as things stand now, will include Paris, Cannes and Monte Carlo. The Monte Carlo concertizing augments an appearance previously announced and the activities will keep her busy until Aug. 1, as she begins the concerts, a new departure for her, after her engagement at the Theater Royal in Dublin. Paris managers became interested in engaging her following her success at the Palladium in London. Her accompanist will be Buddy Pepper.

"The Second Woman" takes place there and the mystery surrounds an architect who has built a soaring modern edifice on top of a rock. He lives there alone, victim of a series of misfortunes that takes from him, one by one, all the things he loves. Robert Young plays the architect and Betsy Drake is the girl who believes his misfortunes are not the result of accident, chance or "bad luck," but, in stead, of a calculated campaign by some human agency. Miss Drake, whose occupation is compiling the odds on professional insurance risks, is, as it turns out, correct. Somebody's out to get Bob.

She will do special exploitation work for her own starring picture, "Texas Carnival." GRANGER AND COREY FACE RUGGED DUTY Stewart Granger and Wendell Corey will have to pack in for 10 miles to their next location for "The North Country," as a result of a scouting trip made by Director Andrew Martin in Idaho. "The North Country," which was suspended while Granger undertook his assignment in "The Light Touch" with Pier Angeli, will resume in July.

Granger and Miss Angeli will return here early next week for interior scenes for this production. Cecil Kellaway will probably be in "Three Wishes for Jamie" when the Los Angeles Civic Light Opera presents that new work. The engagement will doubtless follow his current assignment in "The Rage of the Vulture" at Paramount. Whereas it was decided not to have Stewart Granger duel with himself in his double role in "Scaramouche," MGM will experiment with a similar idea by having Howard Keel box with himself in his dual role in "Kellaway Went Thataway." SCOTT Further adventures of that rustic pair, Ma and Pa Kettle, are chronicled at five theaters, United Artists, Studio City, Ritz, Vogue and Culver. The film with the marathon title is "Ma and Pa Kettle Back on the Farm." In case you aren't a Kettle fan, Pa, Ma and their king-sized brood have been living in an ultra-modem dwelling that Pa won in some contest or other. In the new slapstick comedy they are more or less forced to return to their old, ramshackle farmhouse when their eldest son becomes a father. The latter's in-laws move in and take over the new Kettle manse. Grandmothers Clash There's a big hassle when Ma's homespun methods of tending to the new offspring clash with those of the baby's other grandmother.

While this battle continues, two city slickers with a Gei-ger counter snoop around and are convinced that there is uranium on the Kettle farm. They proceed to pay Pa's back taxes and claim the property. The fight over the baby and the phony uranium discovery lead to a series of gags and chases reminiscent of the "good old days" of silent movies, even including the stalled-caron-the-track routine.
