Dr.

Herbert B. Bruner, professor of education and director of the curriculum laboratory of the teachers' college of Columbia, will address the Texas State Teacher association. Dr. Bruner has acted as curriculum consultant for the schools of Houston, Port Arthur, Beaumont ami Fort Worth. Miss Jessie Gray, newly-elected president of the National Education association, will address the Texas State Teachers' convention in Austin Nov.

30-Dec. 2. Miss Gray is a fifth grade teacher in the Thaddeus Stevens practice school of the Philadelphia school system. She is a native of London, England. Dr.

Gordon Jennings Laing, dean of the division of humanities of the University of Chicago, will be a speaker on the program of the teachers' convention. Dean Laing is editor of the University of Chicago Press He was born in London, and has been in the University of Chicago faculty for 34 years. at Anderson high school and Kealing junior high school. The Texas Association of Musicians will meet at Tillotson college at 2:30 p. m. Thursday. A general meeting will be held Thursday night at Wesley Chapel Methodist church, San Ber 1.

Stilwell has been superintendent of Texarkana public schools since 1330. He Is a native of Lone Oak, Hunt county, Texas. Ha Is married and has three children, one a graduate of the University of Texas, another a student In college, and the youngest in high school. Mrs. Stilwell accompanied Mm to Austin for the convention.

Mr. Stilwell entered the University of Texas by examination, and received his B.A. degree in 1909, with Phi Beta Kappa honors. He received his M.A. degree here in H19.

He taught In Waxahachie high school, was a tutor In English In the University of Texas; acting professor of education in the College of Industrial Arts, principal of Amarlllo high school, adjunct professor of English in the Canyon Teacher college; principal of Tyler high school; lecturer In summer schools of the University of Texas; superintendent at Texarkana since 1320. He has been active In many professional, civic and community, and fraternal organizations and undertakings. high schools.
