Belmont Ave to St. Prisolle Church. Mass 9 3t m. fwterment Mwuni Carmel 672 JOO, From Tribune Wirt Servlcei WASHINGTON The Washington Star ind its printers' uiion reached a tenta-ive agreement Sunday night, apparently leading off the Star management's hreat to close the paper. Publisher George Hoyt said the paper vould not publish its holiday edition ilonday, however, because the printers -the last of 11 craft unions to hold out the pacts failed to ratify the con-ract before the midnight deadline.

"I am sorry to say we will miss me day of publishing, but there will be 164 other days of publishing this year, nd we are real pleased about that," said. The financially troubled afternoon lewspaper reached agreement earlier in he evening with the pressmen's union, thich voted 60-29 to accept a five-year ontract. BILL BORMAN, president of the winters' union, said he would recom-nend that the union ratify the contract an 11 a.m. meeting Monday. Earlier in the day United States Dis trict Judge Charles Richey, responding to a petition by the printers, ordered the newspaper to continue publication while contract talks were In progress.

But the judge, after hearing arguments on appeal of his earlier order, ruled that the injunction to continue publication would not go into effect until 3 p.m. Monday. That action meant The Star was not necessarily under court order to publish its New Year's edition. The newspaper's management originally had pledged to close the 125-year-old newspaper at midnight Sunday unless new contracts had been reached with all 11 unions. IT WAS Colombia Typographical Union 103 that asked Richey to order the paper to continue publication.

The Star had wanted to cut the number of printers' Jobs from 175 to 80 by June and then to 25 during the next five years. The newspaper's current losses amount to $10 million annually, according to Time officials. Management says the new five-year contracts are necessary to ensure labor stability. beloved father of Trudi (Thomas) it 'iyi woookxh ana ueraia uotnn aeai loved grandfather of Randy, Timi Donna, John, Peter eno Michael Wood)ockt-dear son of the' late Frank and Gertrude; dear in law of the late Christine es, brother ol Ann James) Smit, Grace (John) DeRoos, Jenme (Richard) Boersema, the late Fred and George; brother in (aw of Casey, Gerne, Mane and Toots Venhuien.
