Mix, 72,. retired clerk for the presiding judge of the Superior Court here, died Monday in a Santa Barbara hospital after a lingering illness. Mr. Mix, 'who retirpd in March, 13S2, moved to Santa Barbara in 1957 with his wife, Lona. Before his re tirement, he had been a Superior Court clerk here for nearly 30 years, serving the last three years under the presiding judge.

Born in Fargo, N.D., Mr. Mix spent his childhood in Nogales, and Hermo-sillo, Mex. In 1912, he was elected clerk of Santa Cruz County, Arizona, when that state was first admitted to the Union. He resigned in 1917 to enlist in the U.S. Cavalry and serve in World War I.
