(AP)-A bullet hole through the north wall of the Egialeo home in Sanger, and the finding of a pistol bullet lodged in a mattress, today added color to the assertion of William Maglio, 27 years of age, and Joseph Egialeo, 23, that they shot at a group of grape campaign workers last Friday night in self -defense. The two men, step-brothers, are in the County Jail facing capital charges in connection with the slaying of A. R. Matignon, and wounding of Mrs. Angela Egialeo, their mother, and Wilbur Perry, 33, campaign worker.

The Farm Board announced that will accept contracts secured during the time the audit is in progress, and, seeing this as their only hope, leaders under Chairman Wylie M. Giffen were conducting a whirlwind canvass to attempt to secure nearly 35,000 acres declared to needed. E. E. Kaufmann, State Agricultural Statistician, and H.

R. Tolley of the University of California were the members of the committee who arrived here. Alonzo E. Taylor of Stanford University is on his way here from the East. Kaufmann said it would take several days to determine the result and that it was possible that the State acreage estimate might be reduced slightly, but that he did not believe this reduction would be large enough to make any material difference in drive situation.

GRAPE CONTROL BOARD MEETS IN BAY CITY TODAY SAN FRANCISCO, July 16. (Exclusive) In hope that the vinevardists of California will sign up 85 per cent of State's grape acreage to the Federal Farm Board control plan, a meeting of the board of directors of the grape control board has been called for tomorrow afternoon, it was announced today by William A. Boekel, secretary of the board. The directors will meet in Boekel's office at 2 p.m. "The sign-up is now about 80 per cent and workers are bending their last efforts to get the last 30.000 acres that are needed," said Boekel.

KINGS COUNTY GRAPE MEN SIGNED UP 95 PER CENT HANFORD, July the basis of figures obtained from County Assessor George C. Murray, Kings county vineyardists have signed the grape-control plan of the Federal Farm Board to the extent of 95 per cent of their acreage. C. Baker and David Unruh Succumb BAKERSFIELD, July C. Baker, Selma Trucking Company owner, and David Unruh, 23-yearold Dos Palos youth, were killed today when their truck and trailer plunged over a steep roadside cliff on the Grapevine south of this city. Unruh died instantly when he leaped from the truck just before it slipped over the canyon wall. He fractured his skull, when he struck the pavement head foremost.

Baker died a short time after being brought the Bakersfield Emergency Hospital. He suffered a fractured skull also as he leaped from the wildly careening truck immediately after it started its mad plunge down the side of the rocky gorge five miles this side of Lebec. OCTOGENARIAN DIES BAKERSFIELD, July Paul Smith, 86 years of age, native of Ontario, resident here for more than "twenty years, died here today at the home of a daughter, Mrs. Effie M. Pesante.
