JOPLIN GLOBE, FRIDAY, SEPTEMBER 13, IB CHEAPER CANNED FRUIT LOOKED FOR Year's Pack Expected to Be Larger Than Ever Before, Agriculture Department Says. Washington, Sept. 12. UP -More and cheaper canned fruits are In prospect. The agriculture department reported today that this year's pack Is expected to set a new record with slightly lower prices a possibility.

Significant increases are expected, the department said, for canned apples, apricots, sour cherries, peaches, and canned citrus segments. Likewise, some increase in imports of canned fruits, especially pineapple from Hawaii, was forecast for the year ahead. TWO HELD WITHOUT BONO IN GUY Mrs. Thelma Mosier, 30 years old, who was blamed Wednesday night by a corner's jury for the fatal stabbing of Guy Colvin, 50, here August 18, was arraigned yesterday on a first-degree murder charge along with John Rowe, who was present at the time of the stabbing and who was charged Jointly with her. Their preliminary hearing was set for September 18 before Justice Charles McDonald, who committed them to jail without bond.

They had been held on felonious assault charges prior to Colvin's death in St. John's hospital Monday night. Mrs. Mosier, who told police she had been married five times, was employed as Colvin's housekeeper at the time he was fatally stabbed with a paring knife. Detective Chief Luther Laster quoted her as having admitted the stabbing, saying she had stabbed Colvin a he knocked her down twice.

With Our Service Forces Corporal Clarence D. Swain, who served in the army air forces for 11 months, was discharged August 31 at Camp Beale, Calif. He was stationed on Okinawa. His family resides at 306 Grant avenue, Baxter Springs. Mr.

Private Floyd White of Racine, who has been stationed with the Fifty-third anti-aircraft battalion at Fort Bliss, Tex, is visiting hie wife, Mrs. Ruth and other relatives in the district while on furlough en route to Camp Stoneman, where he will receive overseas assignment Private Lawrence H. Lauck, son of Mrs. Thelma Davis, Liberal route 1, recently completed his basic training at Fort Bliss. Tex.

Washington, Sept. Truman told reporters today his plans to speak in the current democratic campaign still are In the embryonic stage and that he plans no tour. He said he had invitations to speak from every state, but as yet has made no definite arrangements for any speeches. White House aids indicated recently that the president had at least one definite speaking date and probably would make a couple of speeches during the campaign.

Secretary Charles G. Ross would not say where the speaking engagement was. Later callers at the White House reported the president told them he expected to speak in Kansas City, Mo, in October. Receives Party Leaders. Mr.

Truman made his observations on the campaign at today's news conference after receiving democratic party leaders and 21 candidates for the senate, house and governor from 11 scattered states. In greeting them, he told them: "The first business of mine, of course, is being president of the United States and wot king for all of the people of the country. "My second business is to head the democratic paity and think the democratic party is the only party that has ever worked for all the people of the United States." Several of the candidates said they asked the president to come to their states during the campaign, but received no definite promises. Among those extending invitations were candidates from Wisconsin and Kentucky. The president told the news conference he had approved the entire speech on foreign policy to be delivered in New York tonight by Secretary of Commerce Wallace and that he considered the speech to be in line with the policies of Secretary of State Byrnes.
