Eight persons were killed in 167 iccidents in the 18 counties of Troop of the state highway pa- rol in March. There were 115 persons injured in those accidents which caused an estimated $75,980 in property damage.

The March totals for Troop boosted the fatality figure for the 'ear to 26, three more than were tilled in the same period last year in the county area. In the Joplin area, two persons were killed in Jasper county and nine persons were injured in 24 accidents that caused $12.600 property damage. In Newton county, one person was killed and 11 inured in 15 accidents that resulted $5,290 damages to property. The highway figures for other counties included Barry county, seven accidents, no deaths, but Colonel Victor R. WASHBURN, April 10-Funeral services for Keith Gene Berteau and his two-year-old son, Billy Keith, victims of a freak one-shot pistol accident Friday morning, will be held at 2 o'clock Wednis- day afternoon in the Methodist church at Washburn. The Rev. F. C. Hall will officiate, and burial will be in the Seligman cemetery under the direction of Culver funeral home.

The tragic mishap occurred at 9 O'clock Friday morning at the Berteau home when the father, a 25- year-old truck driver, was cleaning a .22 caliber revolver. Berteau was removing the cylinder from the weapon when it to the floor and discharged. The bullet passed through the son's head and entered the father's chest. Berteau was pronounced dead upon arrival at Cassville Community hospital and the boy died 30 minutes after the accident.
