The ordinance creating the office of Sealer of Weights and Measures was taken up aud placed upon its second readiug. A netitiou was presented for a public road from the north-east part of the city, between lauds of Messrs, Enoch and Ephraim Huston, to the river road in Ohio City.

The Mayor presented report for the past month, showing to have been received from lines, and $15.00 from licenses. The report vras accepted and filed. The Treasurer made the following report of amounts in the various funds of the citv: Corporation H3 53 Slreeisaad Sanitarv 4M I 1 Fire 2S5C2 Wharf. 1,09350 Police 531 14 UI 59C The City Commissioner reported amounts of money collected and work done during the month past, as well as points at which such work was done, with disposition or moneys collected. A communication was read from the Uoard of Health, requesting certain changes in gutters, in order to secure Mr.

Albert suggested the report be referred to the Committee on Streets. Mr. Harris stated the carrying out of the request of the Board of Health would involve the expenditure of about Mr. Smith said the draining of Broadway would involve the change of the entire grade of Broadway. This should not be referred to the Street Committee.

It was something that --1 tne responsibility attached to it. The communication was laid over for ten days, in order to allow the City Marshal opportunity to notify property holders that waste water should "not be run on the streets from dwellings, shops and stores. A report was read from the chief of Fire Department, notifying the Council that the Department had disbanded, and turned over their property to the eitv. The report the Council tendered the late department, for their services at fires, and for their liberal donation of their property to the city. The resignation of Mr.

Philip Morley. chief of the late Fire Department, was received, and, on motion, accepted, with the thanks of the Council for his past serrices. The report of the City Marshal was received and placed on file. The Fire Committee reported progress fn the procurement of additional fire facilities. The bond of Thad.

MeGaverau-- H. M. Larkins and A. J. Boyce sureties--was read and accepted.

The Mayor and Clerk were authorized io procure a revolver for the night policeman. A resolution was presented by Mr. Harris, that the Committee On Streets and Alleys take into consideration the propriety of making such changes in the grade of the alley running between Market and -Jackson streets, so as to convey drainage direct to the Ohio river, resolution was adopted. Mr. Albert asked for information as to whether the-railroad or the city was to keep the pavement fronting on the railroad--between Broadway and Walnut street, in repair.

On motion of Mr. fianley. the matter was referred to the Mayor and Clerk. The plat of an addition to the city, from Mr. -James McCormicfc and Mrs.
