ALBUM REVIEW co UJ a A Celebration of Americana BY TERRY ATKINSON It may come as a surprise to some who haven't recognized how eclectic and unorthodox Nelson is, but he's right at home with these penthouse specialties. "Stardust" is as pleasing a demonstration of Nelson's interpretive powers as the "Red-Headed Stranger" album was of his songwriting skills. The performances are spare, sincere, soft and warm enough to invite comparisons with Crosby and Sinatra. Yet this is still "Country Willie." The Austin-meets-Broadway tone is captiva-tingly original. Working together for the first time, "Stardust" Willie Nelson.

Columbia JC 35305. Too bad Nelson didn't release this album two years ago during the Bicentennial. It's a fine slice of Americana, a warmly refreshing merger of earthy rural vocals and sophisticated urban songs. This type of country-city meeting isn't new, but rarely has it worked as well. "Stardust" consists of 10 pop tunes, mostly from the rich late '20s to mid '40s period.

Hoagy Carmichael, George and Ira Gershwin, Irving Berlin, Duke Ellington and Kurt Weill are among the writers represented. MARIO PUZO The author of The Godfather is talking about Lyle Stuart's CASINO GAMBLING FOR THE WINNER. Stuart went to Las Vegas to gamble.

Within a few hours he won $18,600. During the next five months he made nine more trips. He won on every single visit! Total profits on the ten trips after deductions for all expenses came to $166,505. In CASINO GAMBLING FOR THE WINNER, publisher Lyle Stuart has written the most authentic gambling book of our time. Nothing is held back.

It's all here-the harvest of 21 years of high roller activity. Never before has a person who gambles for high stakes been so candid about the rules of winning, the disciplines you need to win, and the lovely benefits of being a consistent winner. Listen to what Hank Greenspun of the Las Vegas Sun says about CASINO GAMBLING FOR THE WINNER: "I've read many gambling guides over the years but I don't think I can classify any of them as really good books until this one. It's the best work of its kind I have ever seen." Greenspun adds: "CASINO GAMBLING FOR THE WINNER should be worth its weight in gold (or maybe platinum) to those with enough determination-and discipline-to gamble to win!" If you ever plan to visit Las Vegas again-or any other casino city-you could profit considerably from this book. It's a university course-giving you insights into everything from slot machines and keno cards to blackjack and faro but concentrating on the two games that give you the best shot at taking their money: craps and baccarat.

Everything you will ever want to know about casino gambling is here. Stuart, a onetime casino owner, tells you why casinos operate as they do and how you can outfox them if you are savvy enough and determined enough. The savvy is in this book. The determination must come from you. 1 JT MUNUAT from 7.311 I MONDAY from 7.30 COME ANYTIME AND STAY AS LONS AS YOU LIKE 9 $12.00, Published by Lyle Stuart I y.
