No Meat. IVrfect Interference and AJabama fumbles carried the Texas longhorns to a 19 to 10 victory over Alabama. Th orange team had the 'Eamas outclassed all the way throuRh, and gSriously atoned for the 20 to 10 loss ia, Vanderbilt. It was a Texas day all the way through the fighting varsity was not to be denied its Robertson Is Star. Even though the flashing "Punk" Stacy was not on hand to guide the Te'xans, featherweight Gearge Gardere not only -directed the i longhorns masterfully, but ripped off fine runs behind an Interference that was the last word.

Bobby Itobertson. outstanding star, fought through the whole game at half- back, tore off repeated lig-iag runs through almost impossible broken fields, and booted a pair of fie'd goals from placement. Lumbering 1 Joe Ward stood out in the Long- horn line like a house afire, ripping through the heavier Alabama line time and again to nail a runner or i. recover a fumble. Yet, Alabama was decidedly not a weak team.

Thrice were field goals ordered when the southern line held in dangerous sperta But Texas, outclassed by Vajnderbllt 'and playing Alabama in weak- ened shape, was simply a better team than Alabama. The Texas machine worked smoothly the plays went off with precision, there was no halting and dallying. Bartlett Has Claas. For Alabama, halfback Charley Bartlett, who claims Marlin, Texas, as his home, played a classy game at hurling forward passes. Only four Alabama passes were completed, but they went for long distances.

In punting. Robertson of Texas outclassed McClintock. A gratifying feature of the game was the way in which Texas broke up the Alabama passes, although the four shots that were completed out of 14 trials went for long gains and were beautifully executed. The 'Rama passing was to the spot and the crimson ends were fast, but the Whitaker crew had their eyes on the boys. Alabama scored early within the first three minutes when Alabama's was returned to the 30-yard line, Bartlett intercepted a Texas pass for no.

gain, and after a line plunge for three yards, Bartlett whisked a fast pass to Baty, who tore off 25 yards to touchdown. The Txas horde reaching htm just as he dashed across the last white line. Wesley place-kicked for the seventh point. Carder Scores First. That forward pass knocked the Longhorns out of their lethargy, and from then on It was a battle royal.

In the same first quarter, Texas tied the count. The Longhorns held the ball on Alabama's 19-yard line, where it had been placed by 11 yards gained through line after Alabama fumbled Robertson's short' onside kick and Dick Borai recovered. Robertson passed to Gardere around left end and the ttny quarter dodged on through for a touchdown. Robertson place-kicked in the try-for-point. Robertson's twisting 21-yard run was responsible for the second and final touchdown, also made in the first McClintock Juggled Robertson's punt and was pinned to.

the Alabama 16-yard line. Only a yard gained in three plays caused McClintock to punt, the bail rolling out of bounds on the Texas 46-yard line. Gardere ripped off nine yards around left end behind splendid interference. Marley making first down. Then came Robertson's run to the 12-yard line.

Marley smashed through the line to the one-yard mark, while Culp finally rosed the ball over on the third Texas down. Robertson missed his place-kick trial after touchdown. Wild Punt Disastrous. McClintock's wild punt out of bounds after Robertson's trusty foe had placed the ball deep Into Alabama territory, gave Texas the pigskin on 'Bama's 20-yard line. But the Alabama line held firmly, and Texas was nailed for a loss of four yards in thre plays.

Robertson hauled back, Gardere holding the ball in position on the 35-yard line, rnd the oval beautifully sailed be-twren the bars for a three-point field goal. The half ended with Texas holding the ball on Alabama's 20-yard line an-i headed straight for a touchdown. liarly in the third period Alabama tried the hidden ball trick, an fid favorite at Baylor. Gilstrap, Texas end, grabbed the ball from the Alabama guard before the play was well under way, and on the rext play Robertson, th flash of the day, tore off left tackle for 30 yard. Alabama's defense stiffened on the 17-yard line when Gardere was thrown for a three-yard loss, after Morley had Just gone through a wagon hole for eight yards.

Both teams were offside and on the fourth down with five to go, Rob- i ertscn made good a tough place-kick high above the -posts from the 28-yrd line, making the highest lead for Texas in the game, 19 to 7. Bim Scores Place-Kick. Alabama kicked off beyond the goal line. The ball was brought out 20 yards and on the next play Texas was penalized 15 yards, and a line play lost two more yards. Ala- bama was halted in its tracks on the 30-yard Una when Robertson punted out front behind the goal line.

Two 'Bama Una plays gained three measly yards, a forward pass to Clemens barely failed, and on fourth down Wesley's 37-yard place-kick barely went over the fear. With the game Just a bit over half played, the scoring ended, and for the remainder of the game the visitors made a better showing, as numbers of Texas substitutes were fiven their chances in a "big" game. Texas made a desperate attempt to pile up a bigger score in ths last period. On a pretty run by Gardere, a forward pass from Robertson Uf his quarter gained 21 yards, placing the ball on Ala- .14 the victory meant more to him than to Tad. 28. There was peace without victory in the Tale bowl today. The Army was not too proud to fight. It did fight. It came from behind in the last quarter and fought Its way to a 7-to-7 tie with Yale's football team.

A barking dog, it is said, never bites. Today the Tale bulldog merely nibbled. Victory eluded Tale when it Seemed that they had won. Yale outplayed the Army, but the Cadets came from behind and tied a stronger team, because it fought with modern weapons. It had a more diversified attack, and Tale frantically reverted to old-fashioned feotball and fought along the lines Of guerilla warfare.

Four Passat Used. Old Eli nsed the forward pass only four times. The first of these was successful and it made Tale's only touchdown possible. The score came in the third quarter, but throughout the first two periods Yale confined itself to old-fashioned footbalt It relied on brute force Instead of a mixture with science. Events moved with kaleidoscopic swiftness In the last stages of the game.

In the third quarter Whitey Neale threw a forward pass to Bill Mallory and a 27-yard gain resulted. Then Neale crashed through for a touchdown and a moment later he kicked goal. It seemed a certainty that Tale would win. The bulldog was barking at the moon and the moon was growing bigger all the time. Aerial Attack Wine.

Then in the last period the Army, using an aerial attack with Smyths on the throwing end and Wood on the receiving end, worked the ball to within three yards of the Ell goal. The rest was easy. The Army attack, intensified by Wood, had the kick of the Army mule in an emergency and in one onslaught on the Tale line Wood made two yards and went ever for a touchdown on the next play. Smythe kicked goal and the scoaj was ed. This was in the middle of the last quarter.

And now Tale returned to tho forward pass. Charley O'Hern, the great Tale quarterback, out of the game with an Injury, waa rushed to the field. He is a drop kicker of unusual ability. Thirty-five yards from the goal, it waa expected be would try a drop kick. But he did not.

He threw a forward pass which was grounded and the game was over. Yale, 7. Army.T. Eddy Myers left end. Joss Mulligan left tackle.
