Best, Higli Shoals, school principal, at a hearing Monday afternoon. Mr. Best was charged with an assault on Raymond Bailey. 13-year- old student, on a complaint placed by the youth's fnlher. R.

H. Bailey. The youth was a hospital patient for several days suffering of an illness which the plaintiff alleged resulted from an assault. It was contended that Best "butted" the boy's head on the floor. The principal, in a previous hearing, said he "spanned" the boy with the palm of his hand after Raymond's teacher said the pupil refused lo get out his books when she asked bim lo do so.

Several of Mr. Best's students testified that. Ihe principal used only his tend on the youth.
