The town council held an adjourned meeting last Friday evening, and among the few things discussed was the side walk question. The council now ready for the question, and Ith the old members of the council. who will hold over, and the new members to be sworn in later, will have their hands full enjoying the perplex ing questiou which surely will come before them. The council has wisely concluded to take in all the walks which ueed repairing, and there will be a few spared.

There are many miles of good side walks In Waterloo, and those that have Heretofore const ructed first class side walks cannot ee why others should not be 'obliged to do the same along their premises. Among the new walks to be for which grades are being established by the county surveyor, are on Oak, Elm, Franklin. West Railroad, Center to the cemetery, south Center and East and also on State along I the county road east from Wayne W. Lincoln, Washington and other streets, and parts of streets where new walks are required for public safety. Tiiere are some grade already estab-! lished and ordinances passed, which will be enforced with the new ordinances.

The question has long been agitated, and slartiog out lo time for the new council to take up the work there will be much to do for the new hoard, and with those who will con tinue 00 the couocil a good record will be made along tbe line of public: improvements. The council adjourned to meet again tomorrow On last Saturday W. W. Hatch went to Elkhart on business for tbe Goshen Angola Traction company, aod met with J. E.

Young, of Chicago, who represents the construction coin pa ny which has contracted to build the line east from this city. Mr. Hatch state that with the exception of a few min or details everything Is In satisfactory shape and work will not long be de layed. Tbe route a now projected will include seven towns, and between Angola and LaGrange Mm arrangements are all completed Tbe -entire road will be fifty-four mile In length. and the work of construction will give employment to a large force Of men.

The const ruction company represented by Mr. Young is the same that constructed Hit Pittsburg, Fort Wayne A Chicago railroad, aod is unquestionably able to satisfactorily fulfill Its contract.
