But the kid decided to live with Tara after fearing she'd die like Beth. Joe's autopsy confirmed that Beth died of natural causes, but Anne blamed Paul. Phoebe got strung out on booze. ANOTHER WORLD: Iris was thrown for a loop when she learned that Corinne's mystery cousin is Dave.

Shar-lene canceled her sessions with Gavin because of his friendship with Liz, but agreed to try again with Russ. Olive convinced John that they should get joint divorces in Haiti, where they can marry each other. Mac assured Gwen he believed she didn't steal Evan's sketch. Ada resolved to accept Gil's death. AS THE WORLD TURNS: David and Ellen learned of Dee's plan to get Annie and Beau together by pretending she's found a new boyfriend.

John pretended to be properly shocked at Andy's kidnapping. Kevin comforted Susan after Jim asked for her resignation. Kim prayed for her baby's safety, but didn't blame Carol. Bob admitted to Valerie he's willing to take another chance with her. DAYS OF OUR LIVES: Brooke spilled the beans to Bob about Mike and Linda.

Mike blew up at Mickey for using Linda to convince Mike to admit he's covering for Trish. Helen refused to attend Julie's bridal shower for Val. Neil could only think of Amanda when Phyllis was in a love mood. Don asked Julie to return to work in his office. THE DOCTORS: Jason learned that a photographer had been tipped off by Paul that something was going to happen at the hospital and that's when Joanie died.

Luke told Eleanor that he'd never think of her as an older woman and that Barney suffered a mild heart attack after Luke told him the truth about Joanie's death. Maggie and Kyle grew closer on a business trip to New York. Steve's divorce became final. THE EDGE OF NIGHT: Adam and Luke caught Darcy before he could kill Nicole. Darcy has tried to smother Abby, who later confessed she'd been one of Darcy's contacts.

Adam decided to defend her after she pleaded that she had no intention of harming Nicole. On the eve of Saxon's trial, Draper suspected hanky-panky between Raven and Ansel. Kevin told Geraldine to stop trying to match him with Raven. GENERAL HOSPITAL: Mary Ellen caught Mark and Terri in an embrace, then bribed her chauffeur to tamper with the brakes on Terri's car. Everyone thought Heather took an overdose of sleeping pills but she had faked it with vitamins to get sympathy from Jeff.

She also plotted to get money from the Taylors, who offered to raise her baby. Monica learned of Rick's marriage proposal to Lesley. GUIDING LIGHT: Rita testified she'd been with a friend at the time of Cyrus's death, but refused to reveal his identity. Anne grew suspicious of Jacqueline's attentions to Hope and Mike. Mike scored a point when Rita confessed that all of Cyrus's inheritance was used to pay Viola's medical bills.

Barbara was miffed that Adam believed in Rita's innocence. Hearing Set on Lawsuit by NATAS N.Y. Chapter Los Angeles Superior Court Commissioner Clinton Rod-da has scheduled a hearing March 22 on a suit filed this week by the National Academy of Television Arts Sciences to prevent the Hollywood Chapter from using the Emmy name or statuettes. The suit is the latest legal round in a continuing power struggle between the Hollywood Chapter, formed in 1946, and the National Academy, created after a New York Chapter was set up in 1956. A suit filed last May 18 by the Hollywood Chapter to abolish the national organization and return the Emmy to the local chapter where it began is still pending here.

Accounting of All Assets On Feb. 26, trustees of the National Academy voted to revoke the charter of the Hollywood Chapter by a 20-1 vote, a move the Hollywood group considers illegal. The new lawsuit seeks to prevent Hollywood Chapter members from using the Academy or chapter name as well as the Emmy name, from using offices and equipment occupied by the Hollywood Chapter, and an accounting of all assets. "You are asking us to leave our offices and give you our property," Hollywood Chapter attorney Richard Floum accused Academy lawyers Edmund Schaffer and John Pe-trasich in a brief hearing Thursday in Rodda's chambers. Rodda refused to grant a temporary restraining order sought by the Academy, which would have blocked Hollywood Chapter's use of facilities and assets until the March 22 hearing.

Both Say They Are Right "You are both spitting at each other in the same way," the commissioner said at the formal session. "One side says they are in the right; the other side says they are in the right." "Your complaint (lawsuit) is largely conclusionary," he told the Academy lawyers. "Sort out the conclusions and you don't have too much hard evidence here." The suit is not against the Hollywood Chapter itself, but individual leaders who have resigned from the National Academy Larry Stewart, Joseph Sands and Winter D. Horton Jr. Floum told Rodda he saw "no reasonable likelihood" the National Academy can prove the Hollywood Chapter was revoked legally when the civil case eventually comes to trial.

If a preliminary injunction is granted on March 22, it would remain in effect until the case is tried perhaps within two or three years.
