Weather Bureau WESTERN WEATHER SUMMARY 108 west. NATIONAL WEATHER SUMMARY A trough of low pressure extended from northwestern Mexico through the Interior of Southern California. Weak high pressure was centered about 700 miles west of Los Angeles. A small low pressure was about 200 miles off the Oregon Coast. Weak high pressure was over eastern Oregon and southern Idaho.

Showers occurred along the coast from Washington to Northern Callfornia. The remalnder of the California coast had varlable cloudlness. Advisories were being issued on Hurricane Jennifer located near 17 north Winds whirled around low pressure over the central part of the nation, the meeting ground between contrasting air masses. On the warm side, a pronounced southerly wind flow transported Gulf air all the way to the Great Lakes. At the same time it erased a chill over the midwest as temperatures rebounded to warm levels.

The mercury at Chicago rose 40 degrees In a 10 hour period. Brisk winds from the northwest swept across the north and central Rockies to the adjoining plains with snow at higher elevations of the mountains. Rain or shower activity was in progress in the Pacific Northwest and from the north and central plains to the northwestern Great Lakes area. It was mostly sunny and warm in the southern third of the country with a few showers dotting the Gulf Coast. Clear and mild conditions were prevalent In the East.

today at Hillside Memorial Park. Mr. Friedman died Wednesday at Cedars of Lebanon Hospital two months after suffering a stroke. He was founder and president of Contracting Engineers Co. of Beverly Hills and a former member of the Los Angeles Building and Safety Commission.

He also was a past president of the California Home for the Aged in Reseda, the Jewish Home for the Aged in Boyle Heights and was active in other Jewish welfare organizations. Mr. Freidman was a the school of architecture at USC and earned a civil engineering degree from Caltech and a law degree from Southwestern University. In World War II, he was sent to India to help direct the building of Ledo Road, an extension of the Burma Road, through which men and supplies were sent from India to China. He also helped build an airfield in China.

He was a past director of the American Society of Civil Engineers and Associated General Contractors and a past master of the Ionic Masonic Lodge. Mr. Friedman leaves his wife Celia of 2220 Avenue of the Stars, Century City; a son, Howard; a daughter, Mrs. Sunni Leanse; five grandchildren, and one great-grandchild. Services will be directed by Malinow and Silverman Mortuary.
