left Corvallis yesterday on his return to his home in Fayette. Iowa. Mr. Ashby had spent the winter months in California and stopped here while enroute to spend the winter in the eastern home. Quarantined With Smallpox -The B.

E. Christiansons are quarantined at their south Sixth street home with smallpox, Master Clifford having recently develoned a light case of that disease. Clifford was Ill a week or two ago with influenza and before. he had fully recovered contracted tonsilitis. He thinks he' has had every contagious disease in the dietionary and will be delighted when his weeks of confinement are over.

To Appear in Albany- The Corvallis High school's orchestra is to apepar in concert in Albany Friday evening of this week under the direction of their instructor. Miss Helen Hand. The double quartette of the high school will- accompany the orchestra members and will add variety to the program to be presented for the benefit of the department of music of the local school. Mrs. Maiden is preparing to come to Corvallis to join Mr. Malden and will probably arrive next month. Portland Visitor Councilman M. Conner left on the morning train for Portland where he is to spend a short time looking after business interests.

He will visit his son and daughter-in-law, and Mrs. Raymond Conner, while in the metropolis. Spends Week In Portland- Mrs. W. A.

Bates returned last night from Portland, where she passed a week as the guest of her father, Rev. J. M. Morrison. while visiting other relatives and friends in the metropolis.

Mrs. Bates accompanied her rather when the latter returned to his Portland home a week ago after a pleasant visit. with the Corvallis relatives. Babe Arrived Friday -Corvallis relatives have been informed of the birth of a fine baby boy to Mr. and Mrs.

Conn's mother and sister, the late Mrs. Jack Dawson and Irma Dawson, and had since been engaged at settling up business interests regarding the Dawson entate, left at noon today on the return to his home in Roseburg. He will return to Corvallis later to give further attention to the affairs here and it is probable the Conns may decide to to Corvallis to reside and take over the business, Mr. Conn is accompanied by Master Johnnie Dawson who has recovered from his recent illness from influenza and 18 happy at the prospect of being with his sister. Burial at Kings Valley The body of Mrs.

Ethel Mason, wife of Emmet Mason of Hoskins, who died early yesterday morning after three weeks' illness in a Salem hospital was forwarded today to Kings Val ley, where the funeral service and interment will be conducted tomorrow. Mra. Mason was born in Summitt county, Colorado, November 11, 1895. She leaves her husband, two small children. Stella May and James Douglas, 4 and.

3 years old, her parents, Mr. and Mrs. L. D. Fry of Hosking, and four brothers, Everett, Elmer, John and Frank Fry.
