Ilavir read iu populist papers that tb.3 stalwart democratic deleca- tion at i asliington were Belling the government cilices this state, we wrote and asked them if they had any bids for the Masmer postcllice, and they that they had we should seil it at auction. Xow our democratic friends will please gather around ue, and gathtr thick and att and we will give them a bargain that not to be sneezed at.

Here is a nice smooth office that is not to old or yet too young, that was iiutned in honor of twoof the first settlers of the ElfeLorn. Men that built their log cabins bete in the days when the antelopes and the coyotes played hida and seek around the nooks and corners, and a thousand Texas cat tle roamed at will over a thousand bills, you see that was one cattle to the hill which gave them plenty of room to grow. Gentleman we are no Peter Funk auctioneer, our honesty knows no bounds. Therefore we wiil in unmistakable language that while this office is Pound in wind and limb, and pleasant to look upon and needs but very little grooming or stable room and is so gentle that a child may handle ir, yet it never won a purse in all its life, but about four years ago it kicked up an awful amount of dust which settled down on eorr.e of the faithful and is sticking to them yet. Now while there is not much be derived from the ownership of this of.ice we ask you to stop one moment and consider the honor, why my friends there is racre honor today in being the proud owner of a postoffice than there is in bein? mayor of Areola cr the president of a broken batik.

Now we I don't want to have this sale mixed up with the populist idea cf pell in 4 the offices to the lowest for we in-! tei.d to ee.il to the highest bidder for cash in Xow come, give us a tid, wink, blink or a nod, anything goes, liow much we hear. YV hat, no bus, why gentlemen has your ambition and your pride both iled away, Too little you say, by dear friends if you wat.t to became great politicians anj rest your brogaus on the top of the deski la the nail of congress, and have your names written in po'den letteis on the tioriz-m of 'a coming time, you must at the foot of the ladder and work up. and this is the fjof, unlefs the foot lias been amputated. 3ow give us a bid, anything will do for a starter, how much d.i we hear, come forward je seekers after vain things, here is your one and only chance, your day of salvation is now at hand. Xo bid at all, why great Scott, where are all the Colonels today.

Never mind boys we will get even for this, we pell it to a popu't; we know we can do that for they are just 1 after an oiuce, every Masted one them. Old Fcle. Do You Ivriow. Hammocks at A. R. tUAQUtS Our City Schools. The mention in last week's Uo'ou-teu regarding trouble our schools has provoked considerable discussion. We regret to see indications of a de sire amongst some or our ncople to take sides for and against our tiv chief teachers.

The Repoktek is 01 the sitle or our scnoiars alone, it is their interests which are to be consult ed, not the rival merits of teachers Wc trust our people will see the point. We supiiort the schools to benefit our children, not to provide situations and salaries for our menus. It is an open secret that the personal relations be tween the principal and the teacher of the high school are such that the best interests of the pupils sullee. The ItEroRTEii wishes to see level headed order and discipline in the school. Wc wish to see the teachers command the respect of the scholars, aud we wish to sec the scholars respect the teachers to the end that our children shall receive the fullest benefit from our school and course of study.

T1k Reporter takes no sitle for or against any of teachers. Their private quarrels arc of no moment to the Re porter or people, except wnen- lliey reach the point of impairing the benefits of the school. It is the scholars who suffer. If it be' neecssaiy let the school be reorganized. The school board have a great responsibility, and they will not do their dut- by taking sides or espousing thecau.se of one.
